About Wildlife Learning Center

Wildlife Learning Center (WLC) is located in Sylmar, California, nestled in an old olive grove where more than 50 different species of displaced, rescued, and zoo-born wild animals call this shady, natural environment home. The WLC staff is a team of biologists with a passion for wildlife and environmental education. WLC’s mission is to provide sanctuary for animals in need, collaborate with other institutions for species conservation by participating in species survival breeding plans, and offer education programs that inspire the public to care for our wildlife, to care for our environment, and to teach and inspire a greater interest in the life sciences. Alongside a circular walking path, a menagerie of animals, including lynxes, foxes, monkeys, sloths, and college sports mascots, frolics within landscaped enclosures. Throughout the afternoon, friendly biologists give wildlife talks on the hour and offer interactive animal experiences with various critters. WLC also hosts children's camps and birthday parties for aspiring naturalists to ensure a future generation of nature-loving citizens.

This is a smaller facility dedicated to caring for animals that were relinquished from illegal care or injured in the wild to an extent that they could not be released and survive. The staff was terrific with us and had an obvious deep care for the animals. The enclosures that house the animals have enrichment items and spots where everyone can tuck away if they feel like being out of eyesight. We had a wonderful time, and I really appreciated the extra time and attention my daughter and I received. Thank you! 💜
