Before booking clarify if there is an A/C in a room and if there is a construction going on. When I got to the hotel I found out they didn’t have A/C, I am sure that it needs to be mentioned on a booking platform since it is definitely not what you expect from a hotel. I paid twice the regular price for some reason, but I got a room that was in a terrible condition and looked like renovation there didn’t happen since 1960s. A cherry on the top was that there was a construction just outside of my window. Every single day I would wake up at about 7am cuz of the construction noice and Polish construction workers screams.

This place Stinks, literally! Avoid at ALL costs! Misrepresented on Expedia. My Husband didn't read the reviews here on Trip Advisor. All recent reviews are spot on... This place is more like a hostel. It is dirty, smells like smoke ( said it's non-smoking), old and terrible condition. It has a handwritten note at front desk saying they are remodeling and expect noise. We asked for a remodeled room after reading the reviews but upon checking in were given a disgusting, old room. I could hear the neighbors TV clearly. So we asked for a different room and it was just the same. We immediately returned the keys and said we aren't going to stay. All of a sudden the reception couldn't understand English and walked away. They charged my Credit card and when we told Expedia they lied to Expedite and said we did stay there. We have a receipt from the wonderful hotel we went to right after. So I'm working with my credit card company now. But save yourself the trouble....Don't book this run down joint!

Relatively cheap room in a central location if you don't mind the tobacco smell, construction noise and 70's interior. No information in advance that the entire hotel is under construction, just a sign at the reception. No discount due to the construction work. Scaffolding around the entire hotel. It smelled of tobacco in our room so we got to change to a smaller room, didn't receive a discount for that though. First they didn't believe me at the reception, "it can't smell of tobacco since the rooms are no-smoking". Gaslighting much? Full-covering carpets and interior from the 70s probably, so I guess the renovation was way overdue. No air if the windows were closed, and if you had them open there was a lot of noise and they started drilling at ~8 (7?) in the morning. The staff was also really loud in the corridors. And the housekeeping woke us up although we had the "do not disturb" hanging on the door. Breakfast was very boring and limited, the coffee tasted like it had been heated up from the day before, price was €16.50. The hotel felt unsafe due to the scaffolding right outside the window, like someone could easily break in and steal stuff. The construction workers/staff smoked DIRECTLY outside our window. Can't honestly recommend this hotel.

Old Charm peeking from shabby and scaffolding We stayed in this hotel through a vacation package. They did not inform the company that the entire hotel is undergoing a renovation and is covered in scaffolding. Hotel stated it’s a city project but that doesn’t seem likely as they talk about remodeling on their website. By not sharing this info they do not risk losing bookings as we would not have stayed there. We were not able to leave windows open and enjoy any views nor could you with construction debris blowing in. Work was sometimes going on as early as 6am. One night there was strong winds and the sounds of blowing plastic and falling scaffolding kept us awake. The inside is old and charming and could use some updating. The showers were so small you had difficulty moving with accidentally turning the water off. Breakfast was over $16 and had no hot options, only continental and NO coffee except a vending machine that gave out only warm coffee. Staff were friendly and helpful and rooms were clean. 2min walk to bus or 6 to tram.

Cheap(ish) and cheerful(ish) Yes, it's an old hotel with very old-fashioned looking interiors. We really didn't feel it was like a 2-star hostel as previous reviewers have suggested. It was at least clean and comfortable. Two minor issues at the time we were there. The view out of the window (a courtyard) was obscured by netting covering the windows due to the building works going on out there, presumably to prevent debris from entering the room should you have the windows open. And scaffolding. And the work started up at 7am on a weekday. Bring your earplugs (assuming the work is still going on in November). Actually, bringing earplugs is always a good idea. I imagine that a room at the front might suffer from traffic noise. The rooms are presumably converted into en suites resulting in smaller bedrooms. Our room was an awkward shape due to the necessity to work around the radiator in the bathroom. But it was clean at least. The show was a bit 'iffy' at times. However. It's in a good convenient location, was a reasonable price, the room and bathroom were clean and the bed comfortable. Didn't have breakfast there (there are quite a few cafes serving huge Turkish breakfasts across the road) so can't comment on that. Would I stay there again? Probably not. There are other smarter looking hotels in Berlin at a similar price. If you're not bothered by smart then this could be a suitable stay. The few staff we came across were friendly, no complaints there either.
