Wonderful hotel for families We had a great stay at Yooma in Brussels. The staff were welcoming and helpful, the hotel is clean and well presented. The room also clean, comfortable and the kids loved the bunk beds. We didn’t eat dinner at the hotel as two of our kids are quite picky and there wasn’t enough for them to choose from (although we thought it all looked great). We did however have breakfast which was fab. Plenty of choice and all fresh. I know a few reviews mention the area - we did not experience any problems, we did not have anyone staring or approaching us, we did not witness any problems. We didn’t feel unsafe. It’s a convenient location for the station and for getting into central Brussels and if you don’t fancy the walk (15/20 mins) you can hop on the metro a couple of stops. Overall a great stay and I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling with children.

Nice hotel and staffs, shady surroundings The staffs and facility are good. Nice spacious family room with separate bunk beds sleeping area for the kids. Beds are comfortable. TV is not as good, unable to connect to Netflix. The area surrounding the hotel is shady and unsafe. Many homeless people. I was almost got pickpocketed when I tried to get on the tram station. My husband was right behind the man and intervened. Even though it’s within walking distance, We decided to take taxi ( arranged by hotel staff) on our way back to midi station to take Eurostar.

Mould We chose to stay at the Yooma because the room set-up was ideal for young families and due to its proximity to the Eurostar. We were expecting basic clean accommodation akin to a youth hostel, however the hotel fell below our expectations. The standard of cleaning was very poor. Hairs on the bed, dust, mould (see pictures). We were at least expecting a good breakfast after the other reviews were generally positive on this aspect. Unfortunately we found the quality of the food was poor. We tried to stick to the staples - bread, cereal, fruit, coffee but they couldn't cope with peak demand during our stay and ran out of bowls, fruit and cereal, warm milk, broken coffee machine. We were relieved to be leaving.

Worth a look Location, location, location. We stayed here for a week so that we would be very close to the train station but still close enough to the city center, which worked out perfectly for us as we took the trains for numerous day trips to near by cities (Ghent, Antwerp, Bastogne). If that is what you are looking to do this is a good option. If you want to see Brussels city center - stay in the city center. The area around this hotel is not the best, but we never felt unsafe. There is also a TON of construction and rush hour traffic near here. The hotel itself was very nice and the staff were extremely nice and couldn’t do enough to make our stay comfortable.

Great hotel poor location The hotel itself is amazing, the cartoons on the walls are really something else, the staff is very supportive and polite and the buffet served for lunch and dinner had lots of options and was really good. I mainly gave this rating for two reasons: the location and the air conditioner. The location is horrendous, I’m from Brazil and I honestly didn’t feel comfortable walking around the neighborhood, people were always staring and I wasn’t even sure if I had to ask my wife to change her dress because it seemed like the culture was a little bit different there. As it turns out, the hotel is in Anderlecht, a commune and is one of the most violent in Brussels from what I’ve researched, there’s a lot of people screaming at each other and beggars, so what I did was calling a taxi to go to wherever I needed. Now to the air conditioner, it simply doesn’t work, I tried to open the window to let the air from the outside in, since it was cooler than inside the room with the A/C set to 10°C but then you lose all your privacy and the air flow wasn’t great since it was facing the other side of the rooms. Beyond that, you don’t have a mini fridge on your room, you need to go to the third floor to fill your bottles directly from a fountain that serves still and sparkling water, this was actually great since I just spent two days there but the mini fridge might have been missed if I stayed longer. I wouldn’t return to the hotel only because of its location, hopefully they will give a face lift to that region since there’s a lot of sites under construction when I visited and maybe things get better. Crossing S*x Shops, CBD Shops and dodging beggars as soon as I hopped off the train and alongside the way to the hotel was definitely not a good experience.
