Unclean and outdated I stayed at the doubletree hotel because it was host hotel for a bridge tournament. The staff was friendly and well meaning but poorly trained and uninformed about room features. This hotel is very worn and in dire need of good cleaning. Room air conditioning units, the elevator floor, gym floor are caked with dust and debris. Windows are dirty. Bathrooms in the public areas lacked working soap dispensers and sufficient toilet paper. Pubic trash containers were overflowing with garbage and plates of old food. Several tournament players checked out of the Doubletree and moved to the Sleep Inn next door because equipment in their room did not work and the facility was not clean. I will not stay in the hotel again.

Not good The hotel and rooms were fine. Beds and bed linens were comfortable. The service/hotel policies were less than desirable. They do not clean the rooms during your stay. You must ask for a room clean “before 8:00 am.” I asked at the front desk for a room clean on my 2nd night. I was as told that I had to do it between 6:30 am and 8:00 am. What? The front desk agreed to put in the request for me the next morning. No room clean. No sign in the room telling you that your room will not be cleaned during your stay. Unacceptable for a 4 night stay. Secondly, the hotel is a series of 4 interconnected buildings. We left the building directly to the parking lot on one occasion. While the interior doors had a sign that said “for our guests’ safety, these doors remain locked.” However, we re-entered those doors from the outside, and they were definitely not locked. Anyone could have entered the hotel from outside through that door. Felt insecure. Thirdly, while there is a restaurant in the hotel, the menu is VERY limited, but the servers are pleasant and professional. Fourthly, I asked the front desk for lunch options on day 2, and they sent me to the 5th floor “premium Lounge”, which I never found, while there were actually options on the first floor. There are precious few eating establishments in the area. Lastly, albeit otrivial, there is an ice machine on each? floor, but there are no directional signs to find it. Because of the floor plan of the 4 buildings, it is confusing. The location is not indicated on the fire escape floor plan in the room, nor are there directional signs posted on the hallway walls. There are also an insufficient number of elevators in the hotel, but I will say that occupancy was high during our stay.

Moldy in Columbia We arrived late, after 10:00 PM, and the door to our room was open (not just unlocked but not closed). The room had a musty smell and was warm. We found red mold on the bathroom floor and in the shower. Housekeeping has been neglected as the hall carpet was dirty as was the elevator floor. Very disappointing for a Hilton branded hotel.

Outdated and in need of renovating Positives: Located next to the highway and under 20 minutes from Downtown Columbia. The staff (front desk, restaurant, maintenance, housekeeping, etc...) was very friendly. Negatives: This hotel is in dire need of renovation. The first room had dust and filth in all of the air vents. There was mold in the shower. I was moved to another room, which was better but still in need of work. The pictures are from the second room. Almost all of the room doors had scratches. The main elevator glass had a hole in it. Message to ownership: Invest in having all the rooms painted and drywalled. Invest in serious repairs.
