Best Western Des Plaines Inn

Very bad experience I checked into the front desk where the staff was personable. Drove around to the side entrance and parked by side entrance. Upon exiting my car there were 2 men shabbily dress sitting at a folding card table on the sidewalk next to the door smoking and playing cards. The side entrance was propped open with a brick instead of closed where I should have only been able to enter with my card key. Upon entering the hallway I noticed the opposite side door was the same. Went past the indoor pool that had a sign stating pool was out of order, peeked inside where I saw the pool was empty of water and the area was empty of any furniture depicting an area that had not been used in quite a while. Went to 3rd floor via elevator, entered my room where I was immediately struck with the smell of stale cigarettes (advertised as a non-smoking facility). Noticed window was ajar so I attempted to close, it would not completely close and had no ability to lock. Carpets were vacuumed but highly stained. Floors were swept centrally but all floorboards had caked on dirt and hair that had not been cleaned in quite a while. It felt unclean, dingy, unsafe due to questionable people hanging around side doors, security doors propped open, windows that wouldn't close or lock, an extremely poorly maintained property. I immediately took my baggage and left to find another place to stay. When I was settled elsewhere for the night, I attempted to call Best Western to let them know I was not there, nor would I be returning. I called 3 times but received no answer and no recording machine. I then called the corporate number where I left a detailed message of what had occurred. Corporate returned the call the next day, they said because my 4-day reservation had been paid in advance they were sorry, but they wouldn't be able to reimburse me for any of my funds. I feel this is poor business and atrocious that Best Western allows their property to be misrepresented online and then does not back the customer when they are expecting a clean and safe place to stay. I can understand not paying me back for the 1st night I arrived, found it unacceptable and left. But when I contact corporate, inform them of the situation, they only state they are sorry, and that the property will be reviewed at their annual review. That means that Best Western does not stand behind their name and does not guarantee an individual a safe place to stay. I will not be utilizing Best Western properties again and I will be expressing my experience with others.

Cockroach-infested/Cigarette-smelling 0-star Dump This hotel is a 0-star cockroach-infested/cigarette-smelling trainwreck. When we checked in, we were given a room that reeked of cigarette smoke. This is interesting because the facility is supposed to smoke-free in terms of the rooms AND I had to sign a waiver that said if I smoked in the room, I would have to pay a $250 cleaning fee. We immediately went downstairs and requested another room. Fast forward to the morning after, we found a cockroach in our new room. We went downstairs to immediately report it and request a refund/discount, but we were shut down and told to contact the manager. I spent three days trying to contact the manager via email and phone. No answer. I reached out to the corporate office and talked to a representative who was very rude and unreceptive. In essence, the property obviously doesn't care that their rooms smell of smoke and that there are cockroaches on the premises. And they obviously don't care about their guests. Finally, to add, the pool was not even filled/open. The place is a dump. And the staff was rude to boot. Bottom line? Stay somewhere else. The rooms aren't worth $8.99, let alone $89.

Great experience My husband and I wanted a weekend to ourselves and decided on this hotel. It did not disappoint. The front associates were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bed and pillows were comfortable. We did have issues with opening the door but were assisted right away. Will be booking here in the future! :)

Reunion U came to this hotel for a high School reunión to build so many memories. The breakfast had so many wonderful options that felt like a restaurant. The staff was proffesional and went above and beyond to make our group feel welcome. We will be back next year.

Best place to be! Upon walking in you can already see how clean and tidy everything is. The staff are very accommodating and pleasant. Every morning the food is good! The staff here truly keep the place in tip top shape. Definitely would come back here again!! Truly can’t complain, my friends loved it here!! Thank you guys so much!
