A comfortable place to stay Our flight landed late, so we were very much looking forward to checking into the hotel and catching some sleep. Fortunately, this Best Western made it really easy to accomplish these simple tasks. The night staff was friendly and efficient, our room spacious and clean, and most importantly, the beds were comfortable. The free breakfast made it really easy to head out early on our exploration of this part of Alaska.

A little TLC can go a long way Walking into room, looking at the vanity of the sink which btw sits in the room not in the bathroom, which is common for most hotels these days, the faucet didn't look like it had been cleaned water stains. Going into bathroom for morning shower noticed soap scum that looks like it's built up over quite awhile, the grout around the top of the shower needs to be cleaned or replaced, stains on the walls in the bathroom. Toilet bowl itself had cracks at some point it could fail and cause someone injuries. Breakfast - very basic spread, the seating area was very small if there were Mutiple guests doing the breakfast no room, I ended up taken mine upstairs to my room I only did it once. The door to the room looked small for the frame it sat in. The elevator could be wiped down on the inside very dusty. If you turned on the AC was rather nosey but if you stood next to it was quite not sure what was u[ with that. If you're looking for a cheap hotel and got a car then this could work out for you. If not, I would look for a different hotel.

Overall Good Stay Overall had a good stay. However, had issues with my room rez. Each staff member I dealt with at the time was pleasant and helpful, but then other staff was not made aware of changes to the reservations and this caused confusion & unnecessary time delays. The room we had the 2nd night of our stay had no working deadbolt lock. It was early evening when we reported this and staff could not get a repair made timely and thus discounted our room 10%. They offered to move us to a different room, but we'd already moved rooms once; didn't want to move again. As I stated before, overall it was a good stay. Rooms were clean, and except for the deadbolt issue, in good repair. Felt safe staying at this hotel.

Off the Beaten Track This hotel is a little off the regular path in Fairbanks. It is about halfway between the airport and the train station. Convenient for getting away early on the train to Anchorage. You need a car to really make it work. It does have an excellent breakfast but it has a late start (6:30).

Would not stay there Would never stay or suggest this hotel. We had to switch rooms. The carpet was stained. It was supposed to be an acessible room but that was not the case. It did not have a walk in shower and the tub was very dangerous to get into and out of. You had a very tall step to get over and getting out was even worse as you you had to step down. The room was tiny and you had maybe 6 inches between the bed and the wall. No way you could get there. There was a chair for sitting but it was crammed into the corner so not easy to sit and put on shoes. The walls are very thin for a hotel and you could hear everything being said in the next room! You could also hear people walking around above us which is the first time we have ever experienced this in a hotel. We said we could not stay there after one night and were moved. The second room was a bit larger and the carpet was not stained. In our haste to pack and move so as not to waste the day I left a pillow in the room. When I realized it and asked the desk no one could ever find it??? I asked several other times and even spoke to the housekeepers but no one ever saw it so I had to buy another one. With the nice weather we tried to sleep with the window open but the smoking area was too close to the hotel so that was not good. The breakfast was not great by any means. I assume the eggs are precooked and re-heated as was the bacon and sausage so the eggs were rubbery. There was nothing much for gluten free people so I took my own bread to toast. Be sure to take butter to your room for the next day because is frozen hard and you won't be able to spread it. They did do a good job of serving different rubbery eggs each day and different sausages. Everyone who works there was super friendly and helpful. The location was ok for getting around and on the road to explore further out.
