Calm, quiet atmosphere at the edge of the park The lodge is away from the crowds and traffic that accumulate in the Grant Grove and Wuksachi areas of Sequoia (paired with Kings). Lodge is smaller than other accommodations in the parks so the volume of people hiking, eating, parking, etc. is minimal. Room is nothing special, but also no detractions. Dining areas inside and out, especially nice creekside. Very limited menu with snack food in the lodge grocery. Had trouble with our toilet which was problematic since the lodge is at the far end of the park and assume maintenance as well so that is a drawback. Staff stretched thin working reception, reservations, store and grocery simultaneously. Pleasant but concessionaire pinching pennies too tight. No elevator but a ramp for pulling up suitcases or using assisted devices.

AFTER CLOSURE DECREED BY NPS, THEY REFUSE TO REFUND MY PAYMENT Jan-14th, 2023: I made a reservation. My MasterCard was charged for 180.75 USD (+ 18.75 USD National Park Reservation Fee). Apr-24th, 2023: National Park Reservations sends me a mail (see attached image): ===================== We have been notified by Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Park of a mandatory closure of Cedar Grove Lodge for 2023. Due to severe weather events, National Park Service has directed the closure of Cedar Grove Lodge for all of 2023. Your reservation will be cancelled and the deposit refunded. If you would like to explore out of park locations or alternate dates, please contact us at 855 260 1738. ===================== After several claims, and a unique answer from the Lodge (which I got through NPR email) saying that they didn't charge anything at the time of my booking, just silence. Not a very good experience, indeed. And unexpected from National Park Service, National Park Reservations, and their lodging partners.

Riverside beauty Beautiful, peaceful setting with friendly staff. Plumbing needs to be updated, and consistent internet provided in lodge areas would be appreciated. Cedar Grove Lodge is secluded, beside a lovely river. We enjoyed hiking the nearby trails. It helps to know that to do more hiking and sight seeing long drives are required to explore Kings Canyon/Sequoia National Parks.

Great Place but be prepared We loved the actual location and the beauty! We are campers and not very needy so when the electricity went out both days we were there not a biggie as we were out in nature. The water went out our second night and the cafe closed at 5:30. Not a biggie. Their market had cheese and crackers and all was well. Yet here is the big beware. I got home and was charged for a third night. I called thinking it would be taken care of and was told by the manager that they only charged me for two nights even though my credit card company told me otherwise. They blamed it on Expedia and said to call them, which I did. Expedia said they would investigate and told me they could not get a hold of anyone at the resort. I did call and got in touch with the manager, who said they only charged me for two nights. Expedia said they could do anything on their part as they could not contact the resort (maybe electricity?). So I got way OVERCHARGED for my beautiful stay. so BEWARE. The manager said this happens, especially when dealing with outside reservation services. And no one would make it right on either party. Very disappointing, especially with the lack of electricity and water. I never right into reviews, but now that I am out an extra 300 dollars with everyone just shrugging and not making it right.... just go in prepared, and I would pay cash next time. Kings Canyon did not disappoint! Beauty!

Don’t book! Not possible to cancel once you have booked! Due to pilot strike my family cannot travel to the US. However, it is not possible to receive an answer to my cancellation mail. Have written 3 times to Cedar Grove / Kings Canyon National Park reservation department, but no answer!
