Exceptional Hampton Inn Experience: Spacious Rooms, Friendly Service, and Great Value for Money I had a fantastic stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites Newport/Middletown! This location is way above your typical Hampton Inn experience. I arrived early, and the staff was super accommodating, getting me into a clean and spacious room right away. The bathroom was a highlight—newly remodeled with a deep soaker tub, which was a nice touch. Everything felt very fresh and well-maintained. From check-in to check-out, the staff was friendly and efficient. It’s a great value for the price, and I’d definitely stay here again!

Check on chairs in the room and shower grab bars. We've stayed at many Hampton Inns over the years and have always found them clean, well appointed, with good breakfasts included. The staff is friendly and helpful. The Newport/Middletown facility was, in general like most, worth the stay. But... two exceptions: 1) besides the desk chair there was no other chair in the room, forcing you to set on the bed. We have been in many, many hotels in 46 countries and have NEVER not had an additional chair. I asked the front desk about it and she said they did not have them! Every other Hampton has them, why not this one. 2) the tub/shower did not have grab bars, which made getting in and out pretty scary. I thought ADA required such things, but they didn't have them.

Excellent & convenient hotel for when visiting Newport area. Hotel is superbly located —within about a 10 minute drive to downtown Newport RI and its historic Thames district and waterfront restaurants and shopping. Also, hotel’s location is very convenient for access by car to the Newport Mansions attractions etc. Updated & clean rooms. Generous tea choices and delicious coffee in the lobby were a lovely treat to hotel guests. Front desk staff were all super pleasant and helpful. Great self-parking and area nearby hotel provides convenience of Shell Station gas station, Apple Bees, Aldi, IHOP etc..etc..

Good & Budget Friendly Option for a Weekend in the Newport Area Overall: A safe, clean, quiet option when looking for a place to stay in the Newport area - significantly less expensive than staying downtown, even when factoring in Uber / Lyft rides (over the 2 days/2 nights we were there, we spent about $100 between 8 rides to / from the hotel to either the beach or downtown Newport). PROS: 1. Rooms are clean and fairly spacious, hotel feels safe, free breakfast and downtown Newport is just a short ride away! A good spot for a weekend getaway to Newport. 2. Front desk staff was great, they let us check in early (even after a sold out night) and both times we asked for extra towels, they were brought up almost immediately. 3. I also appreciated how a Starbucks, Shaw’s and Walgreens are all within a 10 minute walk of the hotel (even though the walk to get there isn’t the most pedestrian friendly). 4. I didn’t have the chance to use the indoor pool, but I appreciated the option, as I don’t believe all Hampton Inn’s have pools. Recommendations for Improvement: 1. Shuttle - either making the shuttle free or at a much reduced cost. I read in reviews that the shuttle was $3 one way and was disappointed to find that the price has increased to $7 one way per person. For the average couple, let alone the average family, it’s cheaper - or at the very least the same cost (depending on the time of day) - to just Uber / Lyft downtown. 2. Not sure why the website lists an onsite restaurant? There isn’t one, other than the lobby hosting the complimentary breakfast, which is only open at breakfast. I’d recommend adjusting this on the website as it’s a bit misleading. As a Hilton credit card holder, I was hoping to use my quarterly Hilton credit for a drink and/or meal here, and was disappointed to learn this wasn’t a possibility. 3. Fix the Keycard issue - our keycards weren’t working our second night and we had to go down to fix them. Then, that following morning before checkout we had the same problem with the new key cards as well, not sure the issue there.

Dangerous Pool!! First the good: Betsy gave outstanding service at the front desk. She answered our questions, made helpful suggestions and even helped me print out my admission tickets to the Newport Mansions. Our room was spacious quiet and clean. Second the not-so-good: This hotel's pool has a seriously dangerous set of stairs with a very loose railing in the shallow end, and the situation is actively injuring people. The top step is totally slippery with no grit or treads at all, leading a man to slide off of it and fall down the stairs - twisting as he did so because he was holding onto the horribly loose railing. He landed on hands and knees on the steps. Seeing what had happened to him, I was ultra careful with the first step, but what I *didn't* know was that the slanted floor at the base of the stairs ALSO had zero grit, so I fell too. I ended up twisting around with that loose railing as he had. I landed on the steps with my right hand under my right hip. Result - pulled triceps on my left arm and squashed fingers on my right hand. I told the hotel manager, but I'm not convinced that he took me seriously. This pool is an absolute liability. If someone with fragile bones or an artificial hip could break a bone and possibly even die if it rips their femoral artery. The management needs to close, drain and fix it! On a less urgent note, the breakfast is lacking. There is no bacon offered, and no scrambled eggs.
