Peaceful Our ocean front room was a perfect getaway. We loved watching the evening sunsets, and the birds every morning, and listening to the ocean waves all night long. Wonderful staff, view and bed. I loved it and I will be back!

Look elsewhere for a hotel in Pismo Beach. This hotel badly needs a complete refurbishment. We booked this hotel mainly for cost savings and wish we had booked another hotel even if it cost more. Despite that we spent over $800 for a 3 night stay in the middle of the week. This hotel needs a complete refurbishment, badly. The furniture was something you would find on the side of the road. (See photo of couch) and the wall art were hideous. On top of this, parking was $10 a night. The tile floor and carpeting was filthy. You have to push the door to the toilet/shower room hard to get it to close. We were awakened each morning by the guest walking around in the room above us. The patio chairs were sad as well. All in all a poor excuse for a hotel in a great location overlooking the ocean.

Great view, bad room The best thing about Spyglass Inn is the view from rooms facing the ocean, from a 2nd-floor balcony, or a small ground floor patio. Inside the room, it's another story. Our room had no desk, making it difficult to use my laptop. Also there were very few electric outlets; almost all were behind the bed or other furniture. The couch looked like it had come from a garage sale, and was slung so low that getting up from it was difficult. Noise from other rooms came through easily. The showers and toilets were especially loud. And to top it all off, the adjacent restaurant was closed for renovations. Next time we go to Pismo Beach, we will try somewhere else.

Not clean Not clean. Floor was filthy and we wiped down with wash cloth, shower water did not drain in the tub and bed was stained. Lovely location and staff but not up to par with basic standards.

Not what it used to be We have stayed at this hotel many times over the last 10 or so years. It has always been a very good experience. This stay was different. The hotel staff was unwelcoming and abrupt. There was water in the lobby but no coffee and cookies as there was in the past. The room was clean but the carpet was wet and uncomfortable to walk on. Amenities provided in the past are no longer available. There was a lot of work being done on isles and stairways making it slightly more difficult to access our room. We were unaware of an additional charge for parking ($10.00 per day). When I inquired, I was rudely told it was in the information/confirmation. We usually make a few trips a year and Spyglass has been our go to. Having De Palo and Son's within walking distance is a huge bonus since the restaurant at the Spyglass has closed.
