A Very Nice Hotel in a Great Location My wife and I stayed at the Somerset Inn on our recent visit to Michigan. It is right next to the Somerset Collection shopping area. It is conveniently located on Big Beaver Road in the heart of Troy. There are many restaurants around the hotel. The reception desk staff were very very friendly and very professional. This is one of the best experiences with a hotel staff I have had. The housekeeping staff were very good as well. Our room was wonderful; it was very clean. The bathroom had very nice finishes and everything was high quality. The bed was comfortable. The television was large and there was a good selection of channels. The decor in the room was nice and it was warmer and more unique than the sterile cookie-cutter decor of many modern hotels. I highly recommend the Somerset Inn.

Good location. Mediocre hotel. Neat and clean for a quick stop nearby. Front desk was nice. It’s right next to the huge shopping hall nearby in walking distance. We had the breakfast in the hotel which is not bad. We would definitely come again if we have to stop by Troy

A lovely, clean, hospitable hotel This is a lovely place. Although not as “trendy” as modern chains, this place is immaculate. I always travel with disinfectant wipes and was unable to find “dirt.” Even the remote and light switches don’t show signs of dirt that is typically found at the trendy places. The bathrooms, though not walk-in type showers are clean! The location is lovely and quiet. A beautiful sit down, order off the menu breakfast is included. The staff is lovely and I highly recommend this hotel. Also, great restaurants near the hotel.

No Thank you Upon entering the hotel, I was welcomed by a clean ambiance. The room, though tidy, showed signs of age and had an inn-like charm that didn’t quite match my preference for the sleek, modern look of chain hotels. While the decor is older, it may appeal to those who appreciate a more classic style. I will not be returning.

Best Value in Troy - hands down I stay frequently at the Somerset Inn for business in the Troy area. I'm giving the five-star rating based on the overall value offered by the Somerset Inn in comparison to the many other - mostly more expensive - hotels that I have also stayed at in the area. The decor is slightly out of date. However, that is the only negative that I can find. The rooms are in excellent shape, everything is in proper working order, and nothing is beat-up or damaged. Rooms are spacious and very clean. All the rooms I've stayed in have a tub/shower combination which I prefer. I like to take a bath, and am find it increasingly difficult to find a hotel room with a tub. The area is very safe and immediately across the street from one of the nicest (perhaps the nicest) malls in Michigan - Neiman, Saks, Norstrom, etc. The restaurant is full-service with a separate bar area. Breakfast is excellent, and they serve some of the best coffee I've ever had. I'm generally not one to pay attention to comments negative or positive about staff. At most hotels staff turn over frequently, so commenting on them can mislead fellow travelers. Somerset; however, is an exception to this - their staff have been with them a long time, and all have been quite pleasant and friendly to me. Somerset does quite a robust meeting business and looks like a great venue for a conference or event.
