Do not stay here!! It isn't safe until they are done with the construction..... The hotel is under heavy construction until September. While under construction the doors are left open. I found the same homeless guy who was trying to get into my car wandering the hallways late one night. The hotel has not reached back out to me to rectify this matter so I have to air me displeasure here. It was a very niice hotel at one time. You should look for another hotel until late Fall or whenever they are done. IHG won't help either! I will be taking my business to another chain that respects me and won't let a franchisee rip me off. This is likely the worst stay I have endured since my college days!!!

A Step Up from Primitive Camping This is an older hotel showing signs of many years of neglect and poor maintenance. The good news for future travelers is it is currently under renovation. There is constant construction noise from early morning until late afternoon, making a restful stay on the second floor impossible. The customer service lead, “Sonya” offered to move us to the first floor where it was quieter. However, the more serious issue for us is that the water is turned off from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, leaving us without running water or flushing toilet. Sonya offered to have water for the tank delivered after each flush. Unfortunately, on days she was off, the staff refused — apparently, this accommodation was not conveyed to evening desk clerks or to daytime clerk who served in her absence. Rooms are not routinely cleaned at this location. They do offer clean towels and empty trash. On request, they will make the bed. It appears the limited maintenance is a result of the renovation going on as water is needed for cleaning. It could also be a California thing — some environmental thing maybe? Furniture is old, scratched and in some cases broken (a drawer that doesn’t seat properly). Wall paper is coming loose in some places and shower fixtures old, and in need of TLC. Most of the staff is friendly and polite. When I advised the lady who provides the breakfast that the whole milk was going bad, she thanked me and removed it. The1% milk remaining in breakfast fridge expired today. The free breakfast is a reminder that prison food may not be the worst thing you could eat. Best bet here is bagels, cinnamon rolls or dry cereal and fresh fruit. Coffee is not bad unless you’re used to Starbucks or Peet’s. Although branded as a Holiday Inn, this property is independently owned by the same owner as the Fairfield Inn next door, according to an employee. It in no way meets the standards travelers expect of either company. However, this may be a reflection of the fact that it is under construction, staffing issues may be affected as well. The construction is only scheduled to be going on for about six months. Until it is complete, this hotel is not recommended for anyone who would pass on a primitive camp site in favor of a lodge.

Needs Some Attention I have also been a member of IHG for years and would agree with the previous contributor that this property was not nearly as pleasant or enjoyable as others in the chain. The location is convenient, but here are some things worth considering before you reserve your room… Despite requesting a room on the highest floor, away from elevators, ice machines and traffic (that includes trains!) we were put on the second floor on the side facing the trains. Knowing that the train noise can be disturbing, it would be nice to provide earplugs or at least forewarn guests that the train can be pretty disturbing at night. The TV didn't work. There was no laundry bag clipped to a clothes hanger in the closet. Our beds were not made after our first night's stay. Towels were not fully replenished after the first night's stay. The caulking between the tub and the bathroom floor was done poorly and added to the shabby appearance of the hotel room. The door jamb to our guest rooms was nicked up and and the door creaked loudly when opening it. The rooms were dark and could sure use some updates. The equipment in the fitness room consists of two treadmills and one stationary bike. The pedal on the stationary bike was laying next to it on the ground. It could not be used. There was no remote in the gym to change channels (not everyone enjoys Fox News). I very much agree with other Trip Advisor contributors who feel that updating, refreshing and maintenance could go a long way in improving this property. “The place shows definite signs of neglect and deferred/lack of maintenance. From dirty floors, dirty carpets, stained carpets, dirty and stained furniture…” The breakfast was satisfactory but not much to mention beyond that.

Totally disappointed I have been Ian IHG member for over10 years and I have to say this is the worst trip I have ever had at a Holiday Inn Express. We arrived on 10/2 after a day of traveling and the first room we were given was 126. The room smelled musty the bathroom was not very clean and there was stains on the chair. The guy at the desk was very nice and moved us to room 122. This room was okay but at 2:30AM there was a terrible humming and the wall was vibrating and woke myself and my wife out of a dead sleep this went on for 30 minutes. The lady at the desk said all she could do was move us. Really move us at 2:30 in the morning no, the noise stopped but then again at 3:30 it went off again. Fror paying almost $200 for a night, you would figure we could get a good night sleep as we had a funeral to attend for my wife father on 10/3 in Hayward. But we didn’t get a good night sleep and we had to travel back to southern Ca after the funeral which is a long trip especially with little sleep. I also talked to the girl in the morning and she said we shouldn’t have even been put in that room, maybe a little more training for your staff is in order.

Avoid I don’t know how this hotel is being run, but it seems like they don’t train any of their staff at all. I booked a reward stay for 8 nights and called the hotel to amend this (as stated in my booking). I was told there would be no charge for amending this and was told there is nothing to pay when I checked in. Well a month goes by and I get a $195 charge without any notice or explanation. The hotel was very unhelpful and refused to refund me for their error. Absolutely useless. Not to mention they didn’t clean the rooms at all in the 8 nights we were there. They took the garbage out once. They state they clean after a certain number of days but that’s a lie. We asked for the garbage to be taken out and clean towels after day 4 and nothing was done. Avoid this hotel at all costs.
