Good property! The hotel is clean and looks like it is newly renovated within the last few years. I checked in on the app the night before and by 1 pm, I already received notification that my room and digital key is ready. The pool was under maintenance. Parking was free. Breakfast buffet was good with the standard waffle iron. The hotel was located very near to shopping.

$50 pet fee becomes $150 I stayed at the Hampton Inn in Wooster OH on Honors points Tuesday night July 23 with my two senior dogs, who are extremely well behaved. I booked the reservation online at the Hilton site and noted the one-time pet fee of $50 for up to 4 nights as listed for this site at Hilton.com, and I selected the pet option while booking the reservation. After checking out I received an email receipt showing no charges and a zero balance. It was not a detailed invoice. Several days later while reviewing my bank statement I noticed a charge for $150. So I reviewed the online invoice, which happened to be detailed, and it showed a $150 pet fee. I called the hotel the evening of July 26 to inquire about this and was told I needed to speak with General Manager Gayla. I asked the clerk to leave a message for Gayla and to have her call me back. By Monday July 29 I had not heard back from anyone so I called again and spoke with Gayla, who said she would look into it and call me back. Today, August 3, I still had not received a call back and noticed the charge remained on my bank statement. I called back tonight and spoke with Gayla who informed me the $150 was a pet fee, which I already knew. I pointed out the Hilton website shows the Wooster Hampton pet fee as $50 for up to 4 nights and I was perfectly willing to pay the $50 fee. Gayla said it didn't matter what is listed on the Hilton website for this property because the property owner wants to charge everyone $150. I pointed out this was never mentioned to me at check in or anytime during my stay, nor was it posted anywhere and is in direct conflict with how it is listed online. Gayla became argumentative with me, accused me of trying to stay at this property without registering my pets, claiming the housekeeping staff informed her I had pets in the room, as if this was some big secret, and refused to adjust the fee to $50,whichis still listed on Hilton.com for the Wooster Hampton, and she literally hung up on me. Extremely disappointed by her rude and unprofessional approach to this matter and this unethical bait and switch billing tactic.

Midnight scare by the manger without explanation We stayed here for a wedding. We checked in at about 2:30 pm at the front desk. We returned to the hotel after the reception at about 9:45 pm and went to sleep. At 12:15 am, our hotel room phone rang. The manager said that she was doing a night audit and had to confirm that we were in the room. I asked why. The manager raised her voice and spoke to me loudly and slowly and said that she was doing a night audit and had to make sure I was in my room. She then ended the call. She refused to tell me why there was a problem with our room, and why the problem mandated a phone call in the middle of the night. I have stayed hundreds of nights in hotels and have never had this happen. I didn’t know if there was a problem with my credit card number - maybe it was stolen? Or if the hotel had a security problem or threat. My elderly parents were staying on a different floor (booked under the same reservation) and I did not know whether they were in danger. I have no idea why I got this phone call or why the manager refused to explain why I received the phone call. Thankfully, I was able to confirm that my parents were safe and there seemed to be no problems with my credit card. When I asked to speak to a manager the next morning, there was no manager on duty and the front desk person said that she had no idea why I would have gotten a phone call from the manager in the middle of the night- she guessed that there might have been a problem with the hotel’s computer. I am well-travelled professional with Diamond status and I was shocked by the treatment I received. None of us slept after the scare. I will be reporting this to corporate. I do not recommend staying here due to poor management. The one bright spot was the kind woman who was the lone breakfast attendant. She dealt with so many spills of syrup and coffee with calmness and grace. She dealt with rude children and patrons demanding more food NOW with a smile and kindness. I can’t believe there was only one person working the breakfast area on such a busy morning. She was great and helped me wipe down a low table for my dad because he couldn’t manage the high top.

Solid Hilton Property Good Hampton Inn a short drive from Wooster College and downtown Wooster. We stopped here on a a road trip and were not disappointed. Breakfast lady is super nice and does a good job with the standard Hampton breakfast. It's a slightly older property, but everything is in good working order. Good A/C. Bathroom is clean. No complaints. We would stay here again.

Great except for UN-hospitable General manager Gen manager, Gayla, was horribly rude to our group as we were sitting, and conversing in the hotel lobby (at tables/sofa areas). Threw a garbage bag at us and told us to take garbage out to the dumpster (garbage was a few cans, no food or other garbage) At 11:01, she abruptly shut the lights out on us without any warning that the lobby "closed" at 11. My husband had to ask her to turn the lights back on so we didn't trip over the furniture exiting the area. We were not being loud or disruptive, we were not "partying". There were maybe 10 people in our group. What she did was completely uncalled for and unprofessional. I understand that you're a small farm town, but seriously, there has to be a better manager somewhere Oh, and don't dare leave your dirty towels outside the hotel room on the floor. The laundry lady will be viscious!!
