  • Wine and Canvas LA
The artists at Wine and Canvas awaken their students’ inner Rembrandts and Van Goghs with classes that pair a featured painting with specialty cocktails and wines. The mobile studio’s monthly calendar includes themed classes in which instructors expound on the nuances of painting Parisian street lamps, Japanese flowers, or Venetian cityscapes. The master painters—many of them local artists—provide step-by-step instructions while students mimic each stroke and periodically dip their brushes into glasses filled with crimson cabernet. Each of the studio’s various drink-friendly venues boasts a specialty libation selected to incite creativity or conversations with fellow painters. When the artistic frenzy concludes, students return home with a finished masterpiece large enough to conceal any wall safe or mirror portal.

  • Painting & Vino
Art can be made anywhere and the professional artists of Painting & Vino prove this every week with pop-up painting-and-wine classes held at wine bars, restaurants, and other locations conducive to creativity and socializing. Over drinks and conversation, participants learn to create a different painting during each session, whether its a painting of the teacher's own design or a Master work by artists such as Van Gogh or Picasso. Instructors go over the paintings step-by-step and pepper in trivia about the piece's history, which students can then recite to calm down angry animals. Classes include all supplies, such as canvases, paints, brushes, and aprons.

  • SwingIt Trapeze
SwingIt Trapeze co-founder Nick Selvy can undoubtedly impress anyone. If the singing, acting, and dancing talents he's cultivated from the age of 11 don't do it, he could ride a six-foot unicycle and juggle fire. The jack of all trades also taught surfing lessons for a while, and performed stunts and magic, but his real passion is flight. For 20 years, Selvy has been swinging through the air on rigs that he's designed and installed, using state-of-the-art equipment to ensure safety. More recently, he co-founded SwingIt Trapeze with teacher and youth development specialist Brian Kirch to pass on this skill to anyone ready to have some fun. During lessons, Selvy and Kirch's team lead students through the basic techniques of the trapeze. Fledgling fliers begin by hanging from their knees before progressing into swinging and flying without safety lines. The emphasis here is not on competitive skill, but rather on enjoyment, fitness, and being able to keep up with Spiderman during action-packed dreams.
