For 10 years, the instructors and trainers at Gables Fitness have help clients achieve their fitness and weight loss goals. Now the workout institution has reopened its doors as Red Zone Fitness, where clients choose their workout duration, even in group classes. With 30-minute one-on-one or group personal-training sessions or 40- to 50-minute group fitness classes, the fitness studio follows the FITT principle: Frequency, Intensity, Time, and Type. Sessions depend on various factors that include strength aerobics, performance goal focus, exercise biomechanics, and effort. Experienced instructors lead students through group fitness classes that include spinning and Red Zone training, a group class for women that provides a heart-rate-monitored, full-body workout and strengthens the cardiovascular system in just 40 minutes.
Jazzercise is 60 minutes of cardio, strength training, and stretching that incorporates moves from hip-hop, yoga, Pilates, jazz dance, kickboxing, and resistance training with handheld weights. Just as varied as the workouts are the class formats themselves. There are special Jazzercises geared to sculpt your bod, cut your workout time in half, or literally make you slightly better at saxophone playing. There's even a junior Jazzercise and Jazzercise team dance at some locations, which let you work out with your kids and teenagers. Recognizing the interdependence of fitness and martial arts, Thump Fight Gym & Fitness Center married the two, inspiring patrons of all ability levels to hone their combat skills while making strides toward an overall healthier lifestyle. The trainers and certified exercise physiologists lead martial-arts classes including boxing, muay thai, and jujitsu, challenging fighters to face off in the regulation-size boxing ring or the half cage—which has proven inadequate for housing feral exercise bikes. During each class, students burn calories and learn practical and potentially lifesaving self-defense skills. To supplement the combat training, the instructors also lead yoga and Pilates classes, spinning, kettlebell training, and CrossFit classes. The gym also accommodates solo workout routines with a weight-training zone and functional fitness equipment such as oversize tires and climbing ropes.
The voices of certified personal trainers Zach Marcy and Alex Villegas boom across their fitness studio and outdoor parking lots, driving students through the high-intensity exercises of boot-camp classes throughout the week. Drawing from years of personal-training experience, the pair leads imaginative workouts that aim to hurdle students over weight-loss plateaus, adjusting movements to accommodate each student's level of fitness. In addition to workouts, trainers provide students with a fitness- and body-fat assessment. Clients can also attend Synergize Boot Camp’s bimonthly fitness seminars.
With more than 30 years of experience teaching Iyengar yoga, director Bobbi Goldin oversees the impassioned instructors that lead her studio's classes for all skill levels. The weekly schedule includes multilevel I sessions that safely introduce the style's fundamental poses and emphasize proper alignment and spirit-animal management, and multilevel II classes that incorporate inversions and limbo-worthy backbends into the series and challenge attendees to sustain deeper stretches. The studio's gentle/special sessions easily accommodate students with physical limitations, leading pupils through one hour of slower-paced practice, which gingerly loosens joints, and 15 minutes of friendly ghost stories.
