Q&A With Crossfit Epiphany
How do you keep clients motivated to reach fitness goals:
In order to keep our athletes motivated we rely on 3 things.
Results, the community, and our atmosphere. We program our workouts to help you reach your fitness goals quickly and have a good time in the process. When you start to see those changes you’ve been wanting you will keep you coming back for more. Our community in the gym also helps motivate our athletes during each workout. As you get to know people that are on the same journey as you, you begin to want to work alongside them as you sweat together. Hard work is easier when done with friends. And finally we created the proper environment for workouts.
We have everything you need including nutrition support and workout tracking.
Crossfit is simple, why not do it on my own?
Well aside from being able to come in to our facility, look at the pre-programmed workout, get all the equipment you need, and do it alongside others that do it, we also provide personal instruction. One of the great things about Crossfit is that many of the movements can be done almost anywhere. It’s ‘functional’ fitness! But getting the proper training to do those movements is important. Here at CFE we really focus on correct technique in order to provide a safe and effective workout system.
Proper instruction on each movement and proper loading on a beginner, especially the weighted movements, can help prevent injury and when movements are done properly they can provide better results.
Out philosophy is technique first, speed second.
What can a member expect the first time?
When you come in to CFE for the first time there is no need to be nervous.
We provide you with all the information you will need to get started.
There will be plenty of time to ask any questions you might have. We walk you through the entire process of what to expect on a day to day basis as a Crossfit athlete.
We will go over what Crossfit is, how classes work, and how to integrate into the gym.
We will go over a warm up and then break down our basic fundamental movements done in the gym.
We also put you through a short evaluation workout using those movements in order to gauge your fitness level. This allows us to integrate you into the programming properly. Then we go over a short stretching session and send you on your way.
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
We believe that yoga is about the journey of becoming our personal best. Yoga is not about mastering fancy poses or flexibility. Those things come in time. Yoga is about gaining the tools and perspective needed to thrive in life. It's the small simple steps that make tomorrow a better day.
Exercise is challenging. How do you keep clients motivated and engaged?
By helping them feel better! Yoga is a highly effective form of fitness training and physical therapy. It enhances our body awareness and stimulates the circulation needed to repair injuries new and old. It's the benefits of the practice that keep members coming back!
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Simply Yoga was born of my desire to make yoga accessible to people who suffer from aches and pain. I've lived in a body that hurts and used yoga to overcome chronic pain and significant physical limitations. This experience has infused my style with a great deal of sensitivity and compassion.
What do you love most about your job?
The smiles I see when people tell me they're feeling better now than when they started!
By the age of 30, Stephanie Howard's extreme athleticism had nearly run her body into the ground. She was participating in physically demanding sports, from snow-ski racing and water-ski jumping to 197-mile relay marathons and even playing volleyball while pregnant. Stephanie had severely traumatized her spine in the process, suffering from compressions that landed her in physical therapy, chiropractic sessions, and regular injections at a pain clinic. Everyone told her this could only end one way—with surgery.
Stephanie refused to believe such extreme measures were necessary, and, on a whim, enrolled in a hot yoga school. Not only did her pain begin to subside, but she found herself gaining strength in her back. Hot yoga was the cure she needed. She eventually opened Yoga Hot Spot, starting out teaching 10 classes a week on her own before expanding to three locations with a team of experienced instructors. Each class takes place in a heated studio and explores various techniques including hatha, power vinyasa flow, and giving nicknames to individual beads of sweat.
Rather than rely on a traditional soak—which they claim dehydrates hands more than it moisturizes them—the nail technicians at Johnson Nail and Spa soften cuticles with heated mitts. After trimming and shaping nails, they relieve tension with warm lotion and cooling gel, massaging achy muscles before brushing on a coat of vibrant polish.
Pedicures, on the other hand, do involve a brief soak in water before a citrus squeeze and relaxing foot massage. Both manicures and pedicures can be upgraded with extras such as a salt-glow exfoliation, hot-stone massage, and foot or hand mask. The experienced techs also lengthen and fortify nails with artificial enhancements such as acrylics and solar acrylics, the latter of which harness the sun’s energy to allow for more efficient clapping.
