Q&A with Ryan Messinger, Wellness Director
Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?
Variety. We offer 85 fitness classes per week both in the pool and in our studios. Our fitness team is degreed and certified and always available to answer questions or provide that extra boost to keep you going. We also have a plethora of cardio equipment, weight machines, and free weights to keep anyone on track to reach their goals.
What's the most radical physical transformation you've seen a client make?
We have clients that have not only lost hundreds of pounds, but [also] have made total life changes that last. We focus on health and wellness for a lifetime and not just the short term.
Besides working out, what else can clients do to spend their time at your facility?
Besides the fitness floor we have two pools with awesome views of the prairie. One is our seven-lane lap pool and the other is our warm water therapy pool, perfect for relaxing or working out stiff joints. Guests can also utilize our whirlpools, steam rooms, and saunas as well. We also have a fully stocked grab-and-go cafe and ample indoor space in our atrium in front of the fireplace or outside by our ponds.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
We are a medically integrated fitness facility certified through the Medical Fitness Association (MFA). ... Besides the fitness facility we also offer approximately 2 miles worth of trails throughout the prairie on campus. We also offer, for an additional cost, a variety of personal training and small-group training options. ... We also offer onsite childcare while you work out for a minimal fee.
With more than 50,000 eye surgeries under his belt, Dr. Edward Yavitz is a true expert in his field. Educated at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Yavitz holds board certification from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and was one of the first doctors to be certified in LASIK surgery. But, even with all these accolades and achievements, he remains friendly and approachable; he even gives his cell-phone number to patients in case they have questions before and after procedures or just want to swap potluck recipes.
Inside Advance Medical Rehabilitation Center, a team of chiropractors, massage therapists, acupuncturists, and physical therapists combine their expertise to straighten spines and improve overall health. The center’s techniques can assuage anterior aches from work- or auto-related injuries or sore necks from watching for falling pianos. Additionally, the experts wield a laser in their pursuit of removing unwanted fuzz, extra poundage, or cravings for nicotine.
Cevene Care Clinic’s team of experienced doctors and specialists strives to alleviate aches and ailments with an approach to health that emphasizes the manifold connections between body and mind. The clinic is separated into four distinct divisions—pain management, immediate care, general practice, and chiropractic care—to ensure that clients receive treatments customized to their particular health-care needs. A physiatrist and an osteopathic physician work alongside medical doctors within these divisions, sharing their knowledge with clients as well as with each other to arrive at custom treatment solutions. These solutions may combine a number of services from the clinic’s expansive menu, such as general-practice medicine, neurology, massage therapy, and laser therapy to keep tobacco cravings and Stormtroopers at bay.
Dr. Joseph Eckburg, a board-certified family physician, presides over a staff of aestheticians and nursing assistants at Juventas Medical Spa. Together, they offer aesthetic and cosmetic treatments such as microdermabrasions, laser hair removal, and Botox injections, guiding their clients towards attainment of their desired images. Dr. Eckburg supervises all of the spa’s services, and also curates weight-loss programs—complete with medicine and diet and exercise plans— to further foster wellness and self-confidence in his patients.
Intent on restoring clients to their optimal wellness, Heit Health Center's staff—including two chiropractors, a nurse practitioner, a weight-loss specialist, and a massage therapist—provide restorative and preventative care, all without resorting to long-term medications or invasive procedures. The center's approach hinges on the goal of combining hands-on modalities and designing custom treatment regimens to alleviate chronic pain. Chiropractic adjustments and nonsurgical spinal-decompression treatments target misaligned vertebrae and correct structural imbalances, which can restore healthy neurological function along the entire spine and bolster the body's natural healing processes. The center's massages soothe tightly knotted muscles, and its nutritional guidance helps people begin making healthier lifestyle choices. When used together, this multidisciplinary approach can ease chronic headaches, tendonitis, and other painful symptoms, as well as the symptom's causes.
