  • Door to Door Organics
Here's how Door to Door Organics works. Start by choosing a small box of heart-healthy fruits, veggies, or both. The produce changes each week according to what's in season, but it's all organic, and locally grown when possible, thanks to the personal and professional relationships Door to Door's owners have developed with local farmers. For example, a recent menu for a small mixed box included a 23-item medley of pears, avocadoes, apples, oranges, broccoli, lettuce, strawberries, tomatoes, beets, carrots, celery, and chard. If you like your box of produce, you can subscribe to Door to Door Organics for regular deliveries.

  • Concertos In Chocolate
The chocolatiers behind Concertos in Chocolate hand-dip all their truffles, nut-filled bark, and other confections in European-style chocolate forged from fresh whipping cream, butter, and pure flavorings. Orb-like truffles hide unique fillings flavored with lavender and champagne, and nostalgic confections, including hefty coconut stacks, keep children from sneaking off on time-travel missions to find the treats their parents reminisce about. The confectioners also mold fresh-fruit purees into fruit gigs—gems of black currant and passionfruit that sparkle with dustings of sugar.

  • The Cheese Course - Boulder
With a name like The Cheese Course, it's no surprise that the bistro sandwiches here sport gourmet cheeses from around the world. Patrons crunch down on daily-baked white or whole-wheat French baguettes loaded with roast beef and Danish blue cheese, with grilled pastrami, sauerkraut, and swiss Emmental, and with goat cheese and roasted veggies. Some sandwiches are extra cheesy, including the simple but tasty grilled cheeses and the most popular sandwich, the prosciutto di parma. This 14-month-aged, imported Italian meat gets its nutty flavor from the parmigiano-reggiano whey in the pig's diet. As one would expect, The Cheese Course also shows off its wares with cheese courses, which showcase 2–3 types of cheese of the diner's choice and arrive with a fresh baguette and proper pairings, such as olives or Tuscan honey. The majority of the shop's artisanal cheeses come from cheese makers who use the same cheese-making methods that have been passed down through their families for generations via email. The shop's staff of cheese lovers can also recommend one of the shop's bottles of wine to pair with its offerings.

  • Bookcliff Vineyards
When John and Ulla first traveled through the Palisade countryside in 1994, it was filled with peach orchards. But after they attended a seminar on grape-growing the same year, the pair found themselves more inspired by that particular fruit. They returned to Palisade to purchase a 10-acre plot, camping in a trailer amid the trees as they transformed the land into their own vineyard. Years of planting and pruning vines yielded a rich harvest including Chardonnay, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon—and Bookcliff Vineyards. Today, Bookcliff has expanded into 37 acres, and Ulla and John produce a dozen varietals using sustainable practices and strictly their own Colorado grapes. The grounds include a winery and tasting room, where guests peek at the Old-World-meets-New-World-meets-brewing-world lineup of oak barrels and stainless steel tanks. In addition to chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon, their award-winning selection of wines includes lesser-known varietals such as Muscat and Viognier.
