If you've ever wanted to take the wheel of a stock car or an exotic sports car, or if you've simply wanted to see just how fast your own car could go, StockCar Racing Experience has a driving experience for you. It welcomes adrenaline junkies to Pocono Raceway, where they can hop in a car with more than twice as much horsepower as the average sedan and burn rubber around the iconic track. Read on for a more detailed look at each driving experience:
Stock car: Drivers don an official race suit and gear, then strap into a 600-horsepower race car for a dash around the 2.5-mile track. Drivers complete 4–32 laps in the car, which can reach speeds up to 160 mph. Those who would rather leave it up to a professional can opt for a three- or six-lap ride-along.
Exotic car: Sports-car lovers get the chance to jump behind the wheel of an exotic sports car and squeal around the track for eight thrilling laps. Potential cars include a Ferrari 360 Spider, Lamborghini Gallardo, Maserati MC Sport, and Audi R8 V10.
Drive your own car: This experience lets drivers put the metal all the way to the mat in their own vehicles without getting judgmental looks from their family-car decals. There are no speed-limit restrictions with this experience, but drivers must have completed a stock-car driving experience and can only bring in their sports car or high-performance touring car. A few SUVs and trucks are OK, including Ford Lightnings.
ProKart: These aren't your average go karts, but ones that reach speeds up to 50 mph. And drivers actually compete in a three-hour team race with 11 mandatory pit stops for driver changes, plus one fuel stop.
The 483-horsepower V8 engine roars in front of you as you shift gears, and the speedometer climbs over 150 miles per hour. Gliding down the straightaway, you grip the wheel of a Ferrari F430. You don't need to buy your own exotic car to experience this adrenaline rush: American Racing Experience connects visitors with a similar emprise on four major raceways across the United States. At scheduled times at the Motorspeedway in Atlanta, Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania, Summit Point Motorsports Park in West Virginia, and Adams Mortorsports Park in Los Angeles, they brief drivers on the handling and controls of sleek Ferraris and V10 engine-powered, six-speed Lamborghini Gallardos. After preparing visitors for the upcoming track with a lap in a pace car, instructors slip into the passenger seat—letting their guests take the wheel for a driving experience more extreme than some TV show set on an island.
Just as the Louvre refuses to update the Mona Lisa, Signature Car Collection's fleet of luxury vehicles sticks to the proven European classics. The badges of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, and Bentley adorn the hoods of the stylish rides, all of which are available to rent for weddings or special occasions. Occasionally, the cars also roll out onto professional raceways to give amateur drivers a chance to experience the thrill of accelerating down the straightaway knowing that a family of turtles could need to cross at any moment.
At TrackCar4Rent, the only requirement for becoming a race-car driver is a valid license. Aspiring drivers get behind the wheel of a super-charged Nissan Z or track-prepped Mustang GT or BMW M3 for laps around the 2.25-mile New Jersey Motorsports Park track. To help racers get the most out of their experience, a seasoned instructor rides along in the passenger seat, coaching them to smoothly navigate tight corners, to find the best placement on the track, and shout "yee-haw" every third lap.
