Jozef Povazan is living his dream. After finishing his law degree in his native Europe, he moved to the United Kingdom and began to delve further into photography, studying black-and-white techniques at Newbury College and mastering journalistic skills through BFP photography courses. The globe-trekking shutterbug then travelled the world for years with his wife, Maria; they visited more than 30 countries, living as free-spirited nomads with their cameras as their metaphorical passports and their passports as their actual, legal passports.
Today, the husband-and-wife team is busy with family portraits, maternity shoots, and complete wedding packages. The artists capture kids with a soft, dreamy focus and rich saturation of colour or render captivating candid shots in striking black and white. Students of all skill levels study under the two photographers to master everything from simple digital-camera operation to focusing a DSLR lens under the cover of night.

Named Vancouver's best wedding photographers in 2009, 2010, and 2011 by Georgia Straight readers and listed as one of the 25 most inspiring Canadian photographers in Weddingbells Magazine, Blue Olive Photography's married shutterbug team Reilly and Miranda Lievers has expertly framed families, couples, and kids for more than 9 years. In between publishing their work and presenting lectures and instruction to photography peers, the Lievers set up shoots at clients' homes or locations of their choice to capture each subject's individuality. They also assist their patrons throughout each step of the process by dispensing tips on clothing, pre-session preparation, and how to advance from bunny ears to elephant ears.
The Lievers then rendezvous with customers for post-shoot image-review meetings, where they can scrutinize each image and decide which shots suit Blue Olive's line of pictorial products, such as gallery wraps, custom-designed holiday cards, and gift books. In addition to a signature 8"x12" print, Blue Olive Photography grants half-price discounts for all returning patrons as well as séances to retrieve any camera-snatched souls.
After graduating from Capilano University's cinematography program in 2005, Alex Waber decided to freeze his motion-picture sensibilities into non-moving pictures. Using the knowledge he gained during his post-Capilano photography studies at Focal Point, he's led a distinguished career capturing striking eye-level portraits of actors, designers, and drag kings, and producing gripping fashion editorials and long-exposure, movement-oriented creative work, some of which has been featured in various publications and galleries throughout Vancouver. During photo shoots, Alex harnesses his unique blend of motion- and still-picture experience to tastefully immortalize his model's images onto digital images, canvas prints, and pieces of toast.
