They currently host more than 70 unique tours for month, some of which explore the historic Castro district, while others ramble through Golden Gate Park or San Francisco City Hall. Regardless of the area, the guides focus on history and architecture rather than the length of the sidewalk cracks, a focus that has kept the tours popular since 1978.

  • Enjoy Spanish
Language has always been personal for Carlos Bazan. When he hears Spanish, he thinks of a childhood spent in Peru. He feels his love for Latin culture, and a life spent studying languages across the world—from Europe to California's coast. After moving to San Francisco, Carlos found a new way to connect with language: teaching. After a few years as an educator, he founded Enjoy Spanish in 2006. Personal connections are the focus of his educational philosophy, which touches on grammar, vocabulary, and culture. During group and private lessons, he leads engaging conversations that connect students to the subject matter more directly than forcing them to wear hats woven out of dictionaries. Of course, Carlos also incorporates grammar material and homework, but he puts a creative spin on things with techniques such as role playing. Outside of class, Carlos encourages his students to infuse Spanish into things they already love. If they like movies, he'll suggest they rent a foreign film. If they're bookworms, he'll encourage them to rediscover a favorite story in a new language. And if they're travelers, he'll even lead them on trips to Spanish-speaking countries. Through all of this, he has developed lasting relationships with many of his students, who range from lawyers, to professors, to personal trainers.
