Many consider scuba diving a hobby or fun activity to do on vacation, but for Capt. Saam, it has become a lifestyle. He learned to scuba-dive more than 35 years ago and has gone on to not only establish his namesake scuba school but also obtain a US Coast Guard master license, teach scuba diving in Hawaii, and make regular tropical-dive trips. All of his scuba-diving and maritime experiences have pooled into a vast reservoir of knowledge which he passes on to his scuba-school crew—all of whom are NAUI- and PADI-certified instructors and dive masters. Together they immerse students in aquatic classes––both group and private––modeled after those practiced by police and fire-department scuba teams. They keep group lessons small—no more than seven students per session—to ensure personalized instruction and each student's safety.
Students develop their passion and ability to explore subaquatic terrains while also learning survival skills. They learn procedures to calmly handle accidents during first aid and safety courses, train to become lifeguards, or master the art of prying a friend out of a whale’s baleen. Those looking to clock in more hours exploring the ocean can opt for a local dive charter, which ferries 18-25 scuba divers and snorkelers aboard Capt. Saam's boat the Silver Dolphin as it sets sail to a variety of diving locations, from Smith's Reef and Sheffield Island to Gwendolyn Steers Wreck.
Though Capt. Saam's is a scuba school first and foremost, the center also offers equipment rentals and tank fills at its full retail dive shop, tropical-dive trips to the Caribbean, and a ground aviation-training course that teaches students the basics of flight.
At Icon Aviation Group, flying instructors put four kinds of light sport aircraft to good use training future pilots of all ages, young and old, for private pilot's licenses, instrument ratings, commercial flight instructor ratings, and airline transport ratings. Pilots-in-training log hours in the cockpits of a Piper Warrior, Beechcraft Baron B-55, Mooney M20E, and Aeronca 7AC, with access to all the instruments and gauges needed for eventual solo flying. The aviation school couples its in-air instruction with classroom learning back on solid ground, where pupils can safely build confidence under the guidance and command of experienced pilots and work on honing their cabin-announcements voice.
Childcare and tutoring. For busy families and working professionals, this bundle of services can solve a lot of problems. College Nannies and Tutors takes on the task of hiring and placing qualified nannies and baby sitters with families, eliminating the hassle of extensive research and interviewing. When those babies and kiddies get big enough to study, they can call on a team of tutors to make learning engaging and fun. With one-on-one mentoring, the agency uses clearly structured programs to help students reach their full potential. They tutor all ages and all subjects, and can ready pupils for standardized tests such as SATs.

Today's cars might be outfitted with everything from GPS to Bluetooth pairing, but drivers still need to learn the basic rules of the road, just as they did when Center For Safety Inc opened in 1973. The center's multilingual, DMV-certified instructors specialize in making drivers feel more comfortable behind the wheel. Whether they are introducing teenagers to the pre-licensing basics or providing refresher courses for adults, the instructors emphasize the importance of patience, safety, and wearing as many seat belts as possible during every lesson.
