Founded in 1986 by married maritime enthusiasts Craig and Evelyn Stewart, Adventures in Paradise escorts customers on sightseeing expeditions around the Sanibel and Captiva islands. As 90-minute dolphin cruises set sail, voyagers can catch sight of dolphins playing in the wake, manatees lounging in the waves, birds en route to evening roosts, and sea turtles training for triathlons against arrogant hares. Knowledgeable captains and naturalist first mates narrate each journey, enlightening patrons about the Mangrove Islands and Calusa Indians and the aquatic critters that populate the diverse ecosystem. Throughout the entire excursion, participants can hydrate themselves with a bounty of complementary water and soft drinks while a soundtrack of tropical music and orcas covering Jimmy Buffet classics scores their escapade.
Adventures in Paradise
It only took two weeks on the picturesque shores of Tahiti and Moorea to send Craig Stewart into a tailspin. He and wife Evelyn fell in love with the South Pacific’s crystalline waters and beachy breezes, so much so that the prospect of remaining in their native Oklahoma turned gloomy. Six years after the Stewarts’ Pacific vacation, they stumbled upon Sanibel Island. With a love for the waters still coursing through their veins, they uprooted and moved there, making it home base for Adventures in Paradise. In 1986, they started out with one boat—Miss Paradise—and one tour, the sunset dolphin cruise. Today, the Stewart family maintains a much larger operation. Their tour topics range from fishing and shelling to dolphin watching to historical sightseeing on a trolley.
The Captain's provided great information and took us to a spot where we saw dolphins 360 degrees around the boat!FLSunshine34, TripAdvisor, 11/12/11
