In a Nutshell

Actress and singer known for Glee & Wicked roles unleashes powerful voice & charming twang in high-energy concert

The Fine Print

Getting front-row seats to a concert often requires fans to overpay scalpers or name their firstborn child 93.1 FM. See a show on your terms with this GrouponLive deal to see Kristin Chenoweth at Jesse H. Jones Hall on Wednesday, May 23, at 7:30 p.m. Choose from the following seating options:

  • For $24, you get one upper- or lower-balcony ticket (a $48.05 value, including all fees).
  • For $35, you get one grand-tier or mezzanine ticket (a $69.67 value, including all fees).

When it comes to describing Kristin Chenoweth, "multitalented" is an understatement. Overlaying a soaring voice with sparkling charisma, Chenoweth won the 1999 Tony for Best Featured Actress in a Musical and originated the role of Glinda the Good Witch in the smash Broadway hit Wicked, earning both fame as the definitive incarnation of that character and the legal right to carry an Oz passport. Her forays into television have included an Emmy win for Pushing Daisies, a stint on The West Wing, a guest appearance on Glee, and a starring role in ABC's new comedy GCB. Mixing classically trained control with the ability to call up a folksy twang from her childhood in Oklahoma, Chenoweth regales audiences with heartbreaking ballads and high-energy romps.

Built in 1964 to give Houston a proper opera house, Jones Hall mixes sleekly modern design with the elegance and comfort of traditional concert halls. The gracefully layered stairs of the lobby crisscross beneath the hanging sculpture Gemini II, which resembles shooting stars to commemorate Houston's involvement in space exploration. In the auditorium, a ceiling made of 800 sound-sharpening hexagons can raise or lower to shift the room's acoustics, accommodating the bombast of operatic performances and the delicate melodies of a cappella quartets fronted by mice.

The Groupon Guide to: Baby Modeling

It’s never too early to push your child onto the road to success, and no road is faster and more direct than “Entertainment Industry Boulevard.” If you want your baby to become a well-known, well-to-do, older baby, book him or her a modeling gig today with these tips:

  • Just because you can’t spell “agent” without “a” and “gent” doesn’t mean you want a well-mannered man representing your baby. In fact, you’re better off with someone who is willing to chew through and digest an entire stack of ceramic dinner plates if that’s what it’s going to take to land a gig for your kid, which it will.
  • When filling out your baby’s resume, take advantage of opportunities where you can subtly brag, like writing “Beautiful” after “Eye Color” or listing “factaboutmybaby@hisrashesnevershowupinphotographs.net” as the contact email.
  • Know which products your baby’s “look” might be right for. Is it a plastic baby spoon that doesn’t melt in the oven? A baby blanket that can sit out in the sun for hours without starting a fire? Maybe a toaster that makes toast but only for babies? These are questions only you can answer unless you mail us your baby’s headshot and a return envelope.
  • Audition! Audition! Audition! And just when you think you’re done auditioning, let your baby sleep so he or she doesn’t get that classic tired-baby look: droopy skin, eyes wide open but not tracking any movement, tongue darting in and out of mouth rapidly.

How long can you keep a blanket in the sun before it melts?
