Los Agaves Market, nestled in the iconic Pike Place Market, bear hugs the tradition of Mexican street food. Chef Jaime Mendez, born in Mexico City into an extended family of amateur chefs, creates an authentic menu shot through with his love of piquant Mayan annatto seasoning and his insistence on using fresh, locally sourced meats and veggies. Marinated pork al pastor spins on a vertical broiler, waiting to be sliced and wrapped in tacos balanced by a sprinkling of diced pineapple, onions, and fresh cilantro. These tacos, along with banana-leaf tamales stuffed with Oaxaca cheese and roasted chicken, have become customer favorites.

Morning commuters and undercover Carmen Sandiegos can pop in as early as 9 a.m. for breakfast burritos stuffed with chorizo and eggs or huevos rancheros served on housemade tortillas. During the winter months, season-specific offerings such as Mexican hot chocolate and pozole soup warm bellies.
