Since 1978, the licensed skydive veterans of Skydive Tampa Bay, Inc. have accompanied customers in soaring from the bellies of airplanes. These plummetologists have earned national and international championships, multiple world records, and ribbons at pie-eating contests. Divers start off with an introductory class to gain some hands-on experience with the equipment and then take to the sky with a teacher in tow for the tandem skydive. Leaping from the airplane 2 miles above ground, jumpers share a two-person parachute to receive ear-prompted guidance from the intrepid instructor strapped to their back. For additional levels of safety, a staff of FAA-certified parachute riggers maintain the equipment and keep all parachutes in working order and monkey free. Classes begin at 9 a.m. and take place each hour after that until sunset, providing each plane plunger with a three- to four-hour adventure total. Just like parent-teacher conferences with your child's dating coach, classes are by appointment only and include a free T-shirt, so customers should call ahead for a reservation.

About Skydive Tampa Bay, Inc.
The licensed skydive veterans of Skydive Tampa Bay have accompanied customers soaring from the bellies of airplanes since 1978. These plummetologists have earned national and international championship titles and multiple world records, and now start beginners on a path to their own air-bound accolades with introductory tandem jumps. Lessons begin with on-ground instruction before instructors securely attach students to their torsos like thrill-seeking mother kangaroos and freefall for two miles. After students learn the basics through tandem dives, instructors put them through the Accelerated Freefall Program, which includes classroom time, ground training, solo jumps, and post-dive critiques of freefall techniques and maneuvers.
