Certified pilots give ground instruction before taking off on a 60-minute flight to teach students flight fundamentals
The human obsession with flight stems from a refusal to accept limitations and an intense desire to find out which of your neighbors secretly have pools. Put your eyes in the skies with this Groupon.
$124 for Private, One-Hour Flight-Lesson Package ($248 Value)
Certified pilots kick off airborne adventures with 20 minutes of ground orientation and preflight briefing (a $20 value). They then usher prospective pilots into the plane for a one-hour flight ($177). Once in the air, instructors demonstrate controls and let students take hold of the yoke for part of the lesson. Afterward, students take home a logbook signed by the instructor ($20) as well as a six-month subscription to Flight Training magazine ($35). Students also receive a copy of Learn to Fly, an instructional book by Dr. Irvin Gleim traditionally given to birds at their high-school graduation.
If potential students weigh more than 190 pounds or are taller than 5’10” there will be a $25 charge to hold the lesson in a four-person airplane. However, in this event customers can bring an additional guest, who will be seated in the back seat of the plane.

About Tradewinds Flight School
For more than 35 years, Palm Beach has seen flocks of Tradewinds Flight School's students soar into its clear skies and over its blue-green waters. The company's certified flying instructors unlock the secrets to navigating aviation landscapes. Nestled within the cockpits of single- and multiengine aircraft, they send prospective pilots soaring toward private licenses and professional careers farming cotton candy from the clouds. Using an FAA-approved curriculum, the pilots operate out of Fort Pierce International Airport, and can cater their lessons to a student's desired pace. The veteran pilots also charter flights, leaving passengers free to relax and give directions to lost birds.
