Exercise is challenging, and people frequently give up on their fitness routines. How do you keep clients motivated?
I help clients change their mindset to reveal unlimited motivation.
Do you believe in the maxim, "No pain, no gain?? Why or why not?
No, I don't, because there is a big difference between pain and challenge. We don't entertain pain?we embrace a challenge. Calling a challenge pain automatically deters or limits motivation to perform.
What is a typical session of your program or class like for a student?
It's a very intense life-changing mental and physical experience. Every day is an opportunity to grow spiritually and physically with no limits.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
I'm a military veteran and I travel to international health and fitness conventions to give presentations about mental and physical transformations. I practice what I preach and lead by example.
A go-to clinical health and beauty expert who has appeared on such television programs as The Dr. Oz Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show, Dr. Susan Evans is known for being a skincare expert to the stars. The Harvard-trained dermatologist has shared her extensive knowledge alongside her husband—plastic surgeon Brian Evans—on the reality show Dr. 90210, via media such as WebMD, and in numerous well-known magazines, including Essence.
Though Dr. Evans leads a high-profile lifestyle, she is also known for her compassionate, down-to-earth personality. She has used surgical and nonsurgical methods to treat patients from across the country suffering from extensive pigmentation issues, acne, and scarring. Dr. Evans cofounded The Skin Deformities and Research Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides restorative plastic surgery to disadvantaged children and adults.
At her health and beauty institute, Dr. Evans offers the latest aesthetic and anti-aging procedures, including dermal fillers that diminish wrinkles and laser treatments that target hair, spider veins, or jungle vines that have taken up residence on one leg. The caring doctor has collaborated with Guthy-Renker—the makers of Proactiv—to create her own medical-grade skincare line to further promote healing and self-confidence.
At Pure Barre Beverly Hills, any student can build muscle tone in barre classes, but only a few can sign their name in ink on the studio’s banister—that’s a right reserved for members of The 100 Club, a group of regulars who have taken 100 classes at the spa-like fitness center. As dedicated in practice as they are discerning in taste, members of The 100 Club keep coming back for the heart-pumping soundtrack, as well as amenities such as complimentary alkaline water and free two-hour parking.
The actual sessions at Pure Barre Beverly Hills—which are held seven days a week—aim to burn fat and boost confidence by lifting seats off the ground and toning thighs with tiny isometric movements. Though the classes coddle joints by keeping bouncing and jumping to a minimum, each workout remains true to the teachings of franchise founder Carrie Rezabek Dorr, whose background and enthusiasm for dance continues to translate into exciting workouts for members of both The 100 Club and the nonexistent, yet potentially awesome, 1 Million Impassioned Grunts club.
