Doctor of Chiropractic Stacy Cohen founded First State Health & Wellness shortly after he received his degree from New York Chiropractic College in 1984. Since then, his center has expanded to seven locations and welcomed aboard 12 other chiropractic physicians.
Each location features traditional adjustment techniques, mainly x-rays and Activator tools that rapidly and gently prod trouble spots. A few locations feature specialty techniques such as the Newark location’s high-tech subluxation scanning and the Wilmington location’s adjustable Thompson Terminal Point table made up of several different cushions that help it morph into an even more therapeutic surface: a ping-pong table.
Dr. Cohen and his staff complement their chiropractic touch with acupuncture, massage, and nutritional counseling services, which are overseen by the center’s own licensed acupuncturists and certified massage therapists. Together, the team’s collective efforts have been awarded The News Journal’s Reader’s Choice Award for Best Chiropractic Office in 2010, 2011, and 2012, as well as the BBB’s Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics in 2009.
Plush gray couches and contemporary black tables induce states of calm inside the Philadelphia Institute of Cosmetic Surgery's waiting room. The corridors and reception area inside the beauty-bolstering office eschew the clinical appearance of traditional medical facilities for more a home-like décor, such as warmly lit floor lamps, paneled curtains, and porcelain figurines enveloped in snuggies. In the experienced hands of the office's highly trained staff, led by founder and medical director Dr. Zaki Ftaiha, a slew of surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic services, such as Botox, implants, and microdermabrasion, smoothes and reshapes corporeal housings. Philadelphia Institute of Cosmetic Surgery's standards for patient care and treatment match the goals set by hospitals, earning the office accreditation from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Dr. Michael Wollock, a former captain and dentist in the U.S. Air Force, received the Commendation Medal for meritorious service, which sparked his desire to provide dental services in a comfortable environment. He concentrates on aesthetics, cosmetic dentistry, and infection control, and he takes continual education classes to ensure that he is able to provide his patients with the latest dental techniques.
A licensed acupuncturist with the Pennsylvania Board of Medicine, Jason Rinker is qualified to design treatment plans based on holistic assessments of his patients. Patients step into Mr. Rinker's office to discuss their goals for the visit, which can include relief from stress, pain, or inflammation caused by injury or unmediated pride. Treatment plans may cobble together an array of techniques that include acupuncture, cupping, and moxibustion, an herbally based practice.
Prior to perfecting smiles at Brookhaven Family Dentistry––a division of the Centre for Family Dentistry––resident dentist Dr. Dinesh S. Tewari put a BS, MS, and PhD into practice as a published biochemical researcher before graduating from the Temple University DMD program. Now, alongside Dr. Euree Choi, DMD, who helps to helm Drexel Hill Family Dentistry, Dr. Tewari uses the latest smile-taming technology to protect and enhance teeth at four Delaware County locations. Clear, removable Invisalign aligners help to put errant teeth back in line sans braces, and Lumineers porcelain veneers help to mask stained, cracked, or chipped teeth beneath a pearly-white façade that is as thin as a contact lens and twice as easy to floss. Other services include root canals, bone grafting, and regular checkups, which help to keep mouths at the pinnacle of health with careful oral-cancer screenings and a thorough examination of gums, teeth, and joints.
