Though Elite International Dance Academy began with only a few classes and a handful of students, the studio earned a growing following with its combination of accessible instruction and enthusiastic teachers. Since its opening, the studio has tripled its curriculum to include 15 dance styles, including the hustle, fox trot, belly dancing, bachata, and salsa. Both kids and adults gather in the academy’s noncompetitive environment, where instructors teach dance steps with easy-to-follow directions. The schedule also includes summer camps and workshops, as well as Zumba classes—cardio workouts using Latin-inspired dance routines to sizzle more calories than toasting marshmallows dipped in lighter fluid.

A certified Level II equestrian with the American Riding Instructor?s Association, voted a top-50 instructor in 2007 by Riding Instructor magazine, Brittany Pledger has the resum? to back up her position as chief instructor at Vantage Point Equestrian. At the beginning of her riding career, Brittany learned to ride by instinct alone, reading her horses? behaviors rather than awaiting indecipherable hoof-written postcards. Seeing the value in this sort of foundation, she teaches riders of all levels to develop a feel for the horse and to recognize its emotions and body language. She leads lessons throughout Vantage Point's 10+ acres of pristine grassland and beneath the roof of the center's main facility. Her ultimate aim is to prepare students for competition in national AA-rated shows, specializing in the disciplines of hunt seat equitation, hunters, and jumpers.

What is a typical session of your program or class like for a student?
On a tour of the facility, newcomers may notice that the studio is free of treadmills. We introduce students to the rigors of CrossFit. After getting familiar with the techniques of high-intensity interval training, they can jump into the full-blown sessions to build lean muscle and strength using kettlebells, Olympic weightlifting, gymnastics, and running.

Throughout Jim Sayih?s career, he?s helped people from all walks of life get in shape. He?s created fitness programs used by the US Secret Service and SWAT teams. He's chatted with President Bill Clinton about the childhood obesity epidemic and dedicated himself to mapping out classes, exercises, and lifestyle plans. And Jim was so inspired by the races he's run while pushing his son Michael, who has cerebral palsy, that he organized Michael's Special 5K Run/Walk, where runners pushed riders in wheelchairs.
Today, Jim shares that lifelong love of fitness through Broward County Adventure Boot Camp. He and Rhonda Core?an American Council on Exercise?certified trainer?give their clients the extra push they need to get in shape. The boot-camp routines constantly change to keep participants engaged and muscles from rebelling. On any given day, students might be practicing Pilates, doing yoga, overcoming obstacle courses, or going on a hike. Before new attendees start camp, the trainers invite them in for an evaluation to answer any questions, take a few measurements, and record their body-fat percentage so their results can be more easily tracked over time.
