For husband and wife team Carissa Hughes and Bob cupcakes were just kind of a fun way to contribute to a church bake sale. The pint-sized treats soon became a permanent fixture in the church cafe, and before Carissa and Bob had their own shop, the cupcakes were creating buzz on blogs and online food magazines. Eventually, the couple decided to open their own bakery, Gourmet Cupcake & Bake Shop.
The process works much the same way it did in the bake sale days, only on a larger scale. Bob comes up with the recipes, and Carissa makes and sells the treats daily. They have over 60 flavors of gourmet cupcakes in their repertoire, not to mention a recipe book spilling over with the blueprints for cookies, brownies, pastries, cheesecakes, and pies. They whip up a selection of each kind of treat daily, including 20 to 25 flavors of fresh-baked cupcakes. They delight folks with a rotation selection of whimsically unique flavors, including Movie Time—a fudge cupcake topped with roasted peanuts and caramel popcorn stuck to chocolate frosting—and Kentucky Bourbon, a cup-sized portion of devil's food cake filled with bourbon cream. They also take special orders, providing customized decorations in bulk for kids' birthday parties or elaborate pranks to convince somebody they've become a giant.

In 1985, Jim Mellody had a simple dream: to create a neighborhood pub where friends, family, and nice-looking strangers could enjoy good food and sports. So, with his wife, Jeanette, he opened the first of the now-famous Beef ‘O’ Brady’s, filling the first Brandon, Florida, location with sports memorabilia and TVs. The menu—which has grown over the years as the franchise has birthed more than 200 outposts—celebrates American pub classics with an Irish twist, including an Irish blessing on every menu. The expansive menu can quell any number of cravings, with hearty dishes such as award-winning jumbo wings hand tossed in 12 signature sauces and pretzel roll Angus sliders with thick-cut bacon, all served with homestyle shakes or domestic drafts.
The chefs at The View 4141 cook up homestyle comfort food such as grilled chicken, barbecue spareribs, and steak in addition to salads, lighter lunches, and Sunday brunches. Housemade meatloaf is a house favorite, and orders of wings are perfect for sharing or playing games of Jenga.
