This was a pretty short trip; I know it was only supposed to be 30 mins and the wind is variable, but I'm glad it was a group on since it was just across the river and back. I guess I was thinking we were going around the island, but again, it was just a 30 minute trip.

It didn't feel much like a tour. More like we were learning how great his life has been. I also got hit in the head which is a big deal when you have had a traumatic brain injury. He didn't apologize and blamed me for switching spots with my husband.

Everything was perfect. Although, I had a hard time finding it.

It was very informational and Captain Joe was super knowledgeable and shared his experience and knowledge freely. I would definately do it again. The only thing I might change/add is to have each person introduce themselves so the six guests at least feel comfy with each other and have names to connect to faces.

Enjoyed our cruise! The only negative: we didn't notice there was a parking charge for the lot so we and another couple each received a $50 ticket - ug! Would have been nice if the captain would have reminded us of this.

We almost missed our sailing due to the captain checking his bookings 24 hours prior to sailing. 2 guests booked late the night before and he thought is boat was full with 4. We had to wait for him to come back around to pick us up!

More specific direction of where the sail boat will be.

For the price, it was great. It was exactly what I was expecting. My only complaints are A) I wished I remembered to bring cash to tip, and B) I wish there was another 3 hour 'level II' class to take. I don't want to spend $350 on an intensive multi-week class, but I would spend another $50-100 for another 3 hour lesson that covered different topics.

From Our Editors

With more than 25 years of maritime experience, Shane St. Clair captains Scovare Expeditions' fleet of sailboats, unveiling the windblown channels of the Willamette River to budding sailors and sightseeing passengers. During sailing tours, passengers can bob across the river while taking in the views of the volcanic caldera of Elk Rock Island or feast on three-course meals as the sails fill up with wind like a balloon ruining its dinner. A new 40' ocean going yacht is available for private and corporate events and a fast pontoon boat keeps guest boating in style. Those interested in learning the ropes can sign up for sailing lessons, where savvy instructors teach novices how to command the helm, guide the lines, and barter with miserly seagulls.
