It is geared to younger kids-maybe 10 & under, but we went as a family (w/ 2 teens with us). They all had a great time "playing" together :)

It's an awesome place! Kids and adults can learn so much. By being a member, you don't have to stay too long when the kids are getting tired!

By 10years old it may be getting close to the child not wanting to go. They may feel too old for it. Its a great place for kids 3-10 years old. I think it is a great place over all. Great interaction and use of imagination and other thinking skills. Love that.

Bought it for son's family. They already took advantage of discount for their 4 year old daughter's birthday party which was great. All of the families that attended were invited to spend as much time as they wanted after the birthday to enjoy The Magic House. Wonderful day

There are a lot of great places in St. Louis to take your kids. However, there are few places our son has more fun at than the Magic House. We let our membership lapse after a year of dealing with a critical illness, but things have gotten better for our family and so we finally made it back today. Had we not had an otherwise terrible year, we would've renewed our membership at full price back when it first expired.

I took my children to The Magic House years ago and wanted my grandson to go. Today he and his parents (my oldest son and his wife) and their best friends and their little girl, all like family are enjoying the same experience. I wish I could have been there but I can't wait to see the pictures!!

From Our Editors

Though built as a private home in 1901, the Victorian mansion stood vacant for years?until its first children's hands-on exhibits opened to the public more than 30 years ago. Since then, The Magic House's curators have worked to engage children of all ages in learning and creative thought through a range of interactive multimedia exhibits. Their exhibits enable visitors to service cars, climb treehouse ladders, and go fishing in a child-centric community, or play with pumps and pipes in a waterworks playground. They can also climb a three-story fairy-tale beanstalk or use detective skills, fingerprint analyses, and secret passageways to solve mysteries.

Museum staffers also organize a range of themed birthday parties, during which attendees play and complete special tasks as time travelers, scientists, or fairy-tale nobility. Family programs encompass monthly visits from outside professional artists, and special events designed to get the whole family moving. Visitors can refuel for exploration at the on-site Picnic Basket Cafe, whose menu highlights whole grains and healthy ingredients.
