Preparing made-to-order, fresh dishes from scratch may take a little while, but Ambrosia Restaurant tries to make the wait enjoyable by entertaining patrons with a piano player on Friday and Saturday nights. The Italian eatery, which has been a staple restaurant of Flamingo Park for more than 30 years, recently underwent renovations to modernize its interior and provide customers with a more elegant dining experience. Unwind in the dimly lit eatery, with a glass of wine or a cold beer while Ambrosia’s chefs heap thin-crust pizzas with broccoli and roasted peppers or pile 19 toppings onto Ambrosia All the Way pies. Other great entrees include the Penne a la Vodka, a simmered rigatoni in a creamy vodka sauce infused with a hint of bacon, and the Chicken Fra Diavolo, a sautéed chicken breast and hot peppers in a tomato-basil sauce with a splash of sherry. Of course, no Italian dinner is complete without Ambrosias' famous garlic bread appetizer, which is smeared with real butter and sprinkled with fresh garlic.
