The Big Bash
Austin’s top improv comics come together on Friday evenings with one goal in mind: to fill The Hideout Theatre with laughter. In pursuit of this, they play games, create a long-form genre-based story, and conjure audience-inspired scenes out of thin air. As The Hideout’s artistic director, Roy Jank, told the Austin Chronicle, “after 15 years of providing improv entertainment and training to Austin, we knew we were capable of something even bigger and better that showcased some of our best performers and our favorite philosophies. Something special, that was simultaneously polished and risky, that combined well-executed games with improvised storytelling, that gave us a chance to cut loose and play. That show is The Big Bash.”
The Hideout Theatre
The longest-running improv theatre in Austin celebrating its 15th year, The Hideout Theatre's shows appeal to all tastes, whether you prefer the fast and loose competitive improv of Maestro, named a "Best Bet" by the Austin Chronicle—or the weekly show of the award-winning troupe Parallelogramophonograph.
