What You’ll Do
Though the music of Gabriel Hermida and Yael Dray has distinct Latin American roots, it blends musical ideas from around the world and is, in a way, representative of New York’s own cultural hodgepodge. During this four-hour event, guests can mingle in a multi-room photography studio amid furnished photo-shoot sets as Gabriel and Yael perform Spanish flamenco and Argentinian tango tunes accompanied by a violin player and a tap dancer. There will be a free tango lesson between the performances. Arrive early to enjoy complimentary wine and appetizers.
Listen to World Music
Songs combine Gabriel Hermida’s Spanish and Argentinian guitar playing with Yael Dray’s multilingual lyricism. Live tango and flamenco sets take place at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Behind the musical performers, a sweeping backdrop shows projections of Flamenco films. A tap dancer joins Gabriel and Yael for the event, adding an American percussive sound to the music.
Professional Photographer In Attendance
The event takes place in a multi-room photography studio where guests can have their picture taken by photographer Dave Silverberg.
Gabriel Hermida and Yael Dray
Musicians and Composers
Gabriel Hermida started playing music at the age of 7 and never relented, building a lifelong résumé that includes stints as a composer, guitar player, and stand-up bass player everywhere from Buenos Aires to New York City. Parisian-born Yael Dray developed her musical sensibilities living in cities as diverse as Tel Aviv, London, and Sao Paulo, lending her compositions the qualities of an aural melting pot. Together, they bring Latin-tinged music to venues ranging from Manhattan jazz clubs to nursing homes.
