DJ Ceramix made a name for himself by placing a slab of wet clay atop his turntable and spinning it into a beautiful vase by the end of his set. Impress the audience members of your life with today's deal: for $25, you get two one-hour basic pottery classes (a $50 value) at Haven Art, located in historic Port Washington.
Haven Art beckons clayslinging artisans and welcomes visitors from within a 5,000-square-foot warehouse. During the initial class, first-timers learn to operate the potter's wheel under the close supervision of a skilled instructor, who will help trainees create anywhere from one to 30 small pieces for drying and firing in the kiln. Two weeks later, students return for an additional one-hour session to coat their earthen pots and pans with paint, glaze, and a djinn-repelling spray; pieces will be ready for pick-up after an additional week. Classes are offered from Fridays to Mondays throughout the day.
Haven Art have been featured in Port Washington Patch.
