About ModVic
Bruce and Melanie Rosenbaum noticed their roof was leaking shortly after moving into their 100-year-old Victorian house in Sharon, MA. That repair set off a domino effect for the next 12 years of renovation and revitalization and awakened their passion for home improvement. In 2007, the ModVic (Modern Victorian) company was established. The team of renovators who all shared the vision of restoring the Victorian house with modern conveniences collaborated on the concept and got down to work.
The Rosenbaums have continued their work with homeowners, museums, boutique hotels, restaurants, breweries, schools, and corporations, fusing History, Art and Technology with a Steampunk foundation. Wired Magazine has since given Bruce the unofficial title "Steampunk Evangelist", while the Wall Street Journal called him a "Steampunk Guru". Their work has been covered by multiple media outlets such as NPR and the New York Times.
Clients from tattoo artists to patent lawyers have ordered one-of-a-kind, functional art. Their style brings together eras and ideas and integrates modern technology with meaningful salvaged pieces. The Steampunk design repurposes period objects and artifacts in new ways, while also telling a story of resilience. They also work with other artists who have a love of Steampunk to create art shows, exhibitions and events.
ModVic has expanded recently, moving into an 1876 gothic church in Palmer, MA. It's been featured on Netflix's "Amazing Interiors"-Steampunk Wonderland.
