Over the course of 20 years, Katrina Charmatz has taught an eclectic array of disciplines—yoga, cycling, swimming, dance, and equestrian arts, to name a few. But she got hooked on Pilates after she turned to the methodology to rehabilitate her arthritic hip. Katrina decided to share the core-strengthening exercise regimen with others by founding Rebalance Pilates. Here, she and her instructors offer private and semi-private lessons that use the Pilates Reformer's gentle spring resistance to help forge lean, toned muscles. Most importantly, they encourage students to use the practice to become more aware of their body's movements, alignment, and limitations. A mindful approach allows attendees to progress at a safe pace while the instructor offers subtle guidance and adjustments along the way.
