Really enjoyed this trip. My son and I have beginner / intermediate fishing skills and this was a great experience with a fantastic instructor. Great tips and knowledge was shared along with casting techniques and types of lures for targeting Bass. I highly recommend this experience. We will be booking again soon for both myself and my son.

If you want to learn how to kayak and fish, as well as where to fish on a lake this is the company to hire. We came away not only as successful fisherwomen but also as more experienced kayakers, too. Marshall doesn't just tell you what to do, he shows you as well. He makes it easy to ask questions, and he also knows about fishing tournaments! My daughter and I highly recommend them! 🎣👍😊

30-year kayaking veteran Marshall Hosea leads four-hour excursions into rivers, creeks, bayous, and bays, not only guiding his guests to fish, but teaching them how to read the water for themselves. He shows passengers how to find and spot schools of fish, ideal casting techniques for different circumstances and locations, and how different seasons change a fisherman’s tactics. He covers how to pick a fishing location for the kayak, and the differences between the paddle-driven craft and a motorized boat in regards to fishing. He primarily uses artificial lures on these excursions, but happily swaps for any kind of lure a passenger prefers to use.

About Texas Kayak Guide

Some of Marshall Hosea's earliest memories involve water lapping gently about the ankles of his oversized boots as he waded into a river or creek for some classic fly-fishing with his father and grandfather. What started as a childhood pastime became a lifelong passion, and Marshall began experimenting with all kinds of boats to enhance his fishing experience. He loved feeling close to nature and the water as he cast lines and baited hooks, and he found the kayak offered him the best experience. As a bonus, the paddle-driven craft left no trace upon the natural beauty he so loved.

Now, he teaches others the joy of kayaking and fishing as the owner and head guide of Texas Kayak Guide. He takes passengers down rivers and creeks, or skimming across bayous and bays, showing them raccoons hunting shellfish, osprey darting into the water to snatch fish, and porpoises swimming alongside the quiet craft. While on the water, he also teaches the finer points of fishing, including everything from how to spot a fish to changing one's tactics to match the seasonal behavior of one's prey.
