When Pangaea—the earth's greatest rock supergroup—broke up, many fans blamed it on the high-heeled wiles of Europe's inseparable girlfriend, Italia. Discover a sweeter side to the globe's Yoko with today's Groupon: for $25, you get $50 worth of gourmet Italian cuisine from Tuscany at one of three area locations: in Little Italy on Taylor Street, and in Oak Brook and Wheeling.
A Chicago establishment now celebrating its 20th anniversary, Tuscany is a one-stop shop for a delicious Italian dining experience made possible by an extensive menu of fresh gourmet fare. Pasta, like phenotypes at a genetics convention, is available in all manner of shape and size. Bite into tender morsels of ravioli della casa ($15), stuffed with veal and smothered in a four-cheese sauce, or penne pasta ($18) with seared sea scallops and light tomato sauce. Entrees come in myriad hues, including the bistecca ($30), grilled New York strip steak with roast mushroom, polenta, rapini, and olive oil. Or try the pollo arrosto ($19), bone-in chicken with roasted onion and pepper and roast potatoes in natural jus.
Italian food is a great equalizer; epicureans and picky eaters alike can embrace what the cuisine has to offer, as its diversity provides choices exotic and flavorful, as well as staid and simple. As a proud member of the Phil Stefani restaurant group and a big fan of Archie comics, Tuscany is like a fun-loving bon vivant sibling that everyone in the family can count on to throw a convivial dinner party. Décor reminiscent of the rustic simplicity of a Tuscan villa characterizes all three Chicago-area locations.
