$20 for $40 Worth of Repurposed Wine Barrels, Wine-Themed Furniture, and Accessories
Craftsmen fill the space with decorations and accessories such as an 18-inch-high half wine barrel made from local white oak ($30), an antique brass-finished lever corkscrew in a decorative wooden box ($29.99), and recycled wine barrelheads stained from the winemaking process ($20). A dog bed ($125) crafted from a reclaimed wine barrel can be customized with a pup’s name.
Many of Wine Ot's home furnishings take up to two weeks to complete, as their craftsmen take their time in hand selecting old wine barrels and individually hand sculpting each piece. They pry apart and repurpose white-oak wine barrels crafted from French, American, and Hungarian trees to make a range of eco-friendly chairs, tables, wine bottle racks, and other accessories. The craftsmen use individual barrel staves to make chairs outfitted with armrests and wine glass holders, which free patrons to gesticulate during exaggerated stories about why they are banned from the aquarium. Lathes and planes thrum across staves and barrelheads, which slowly transform into round coffee and pub tables. At the downtown Lodi store, customers also gather at a wine bar, where bartenders pour wines from local Sorelle Winery and Six Hands Winery, where the store also gets many of its barrels.
