Purelux Hair Salon owner and stylist Brittany Amos has been cutting and coloring hair since the tender age of 12, but it wasn't until she was 19 that her career really took off. She landed a job at a prominent salon in Cherry Creek, where seasoned hairdressers taught her how to craft stunning cuts and impart brilliant color through their mentorship and hands-on training. The training was so effective that she almost became an instructor herself, but decided her learned hands were best suited to transforming appearances than typing lesson plans. Today, she calls on those skills to helm her own salon.
She calls on Wella and Goldwell Elumen products to alter the hue of hair, and the service menu catalogs waxing, makeup, and nailcare services in addition to haircare. The salon itself brims with feminine flourishes—a black-and-white image of Audrey Hepburn alludes to the idea of classic beauty, and a miniature chandelier hung from the ceiling alludes to the idea of elf prom.
Kate Allen considers herself a bit of a magician—she transforms drab hairstyles into chic coiffures with a flick of a blow dryer and backcombing. But these skills didn’t magically appear overnight. They’re the result of five years of field experience, in which she wore the hats of stylist, independent consultant, and manager. Today, she uses her accumulated knowledge to not only style hair, but also to bestow clients with a wealth of insider secrets.
Hair stylist, makeup artist, and nail technician beautifies her clients in a number of ways, from arranging locks into a new 'do to dressing up fingers with OPI gel polish. A certified hair extension provider, she also helps her clients keep their unique styles fresh with beauty advice and color tips.
A portrait of Audrey Hepburn throwing a flirtatious look over her shoulder sets the scene in this two-chair suite, where stylist Mary Boswell aims to make every client feel like a star. In character as Holly Golightly, Hepburn appears with the iconic chignon and highlights—a look Mary herself can replicate with updos and color treatments.
Experience is everything at Chez Elle Salon & Spa. Just seven staff members boast more than 100 years of combined experience on their collective resumé. Kathryn Hill, the salon's master stylist, claims 37 years in the biz, and thanks to her expertise and a full stock of Unite Eurotherapy and Kevin.Murphy haircare products, the salon earned a nomination in the Best Hair Salon category from CityVoter in 2012. On the spa side, Chez Elle's master aesthetician has been customizing facials in Hungary and America for close to four decades.
The full-service salon and spa leaves no aesthetic stone unturned, offering body waxes, Shellac and Minx nail treatments, massages, and tans delivered via airbrush UV bed—all within upscale environs. A stone fireplace welcomes clients, and the waiting area's ornate glass fixture reflects an eye-catching pattern on the red ceiling. In the nailcare area, metallic decals offer uplifting advice such as "Cherish Yesterday," "Dream Tomorrow," and "Let your fingernails dry before running them through your new do."
