Few aestheticians specialize in high-altitude skin care. Kimberly Hall, owner of Refresh Laser Skin Spa, is among the elite. When she isn't addressing the complexion concerns of Denver natives and beanstalk dwellers, she and her skilled staff treat individuals with noninvasive, customized treatments for the face and body. True to the spa's name, lasers perform many of the services, assisting technicians in tightening skin, erasing spider veins, or smoothing away cellulite. But analog appointments are also available, from signature brightening facials to detoxifying seaweed body wraps.

Q&A with Marj, Owner/Practitioner
Sometimes the little things make all the difference. Do you bake any supplementary services into your main services?
All facials end with a hot aromatic towel and customized finishing creams, serums, and sunscreen. All facial clients will benefit from some degree of energy work, as well as a gentle acupressure scalp massage and relaxing facial massage (in the La Frande Classique European facial).
What are some of your most popular services? What do you think clients love them so much?
The nonsurgical face-lift is a great no-downtime alternative to turning back the clock. I have many clients who combine massage with a facial service in the same appointment for an all encompassing mini spa day. I am certified in chemical peels and microdermabrasion. People ... leave feeling great but don't know exactly why. It's the healing energy they receive—I promise.
Besides making clients happy, what do you like most about your job?
i love the healing aspect of everything I do. I genuinely care about each client's personal story, their life, and helping them improve their quality of life. I am passionate about educating a client about products, ingredients, and their own bodies.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
I'm an ethnic-skin specialist [and do] Reiki energy work. Regular clients benefit from me noticing subtle changes in their body or skin and correcting them within the parameters of my licensure and skill set. Good home skincare doesn't have to be rocket science. It can be simple & straightforward.
At Moyer Total Wellness, the goal is to help clients feel better after one visit without the hassle of sales pitches for expensive care plans, helping people save time and money via effective treatment. Doctor of Chiropractic Randy Moyer and his staff take a team approach to holistic healing. In addition to performing the latest techniques in chiropractic care, Moyer Total Wellness offers a variety of other services to enhance well-being. This includes massage therapy from a staff of experienced therapists, who use their treatments to help alleviate patients' discomfort and prevent chronic degenerative diseases. Their custom treatments and specialty massages such as shiatsu, lymphatic drainage, and myofascial release made Moyer Total Wellness the winner in the Best Massage category of CityVoter's 2012 and 2013 A-Lists. Additionally, it was heralded as having the Top Massage in Denver in 2014 by the editors of 5280 Magazine. Though Franciska Fokkinga has been a jack-of-all-trades in the beauty industry for more than 33 years, in the last decade, she's focused her skills on skincare. In her role as a Bio-Therapeutics educator, she trains doctors, licensed aestheticians, and nurses in using microcurrent technology to noninvasively lift and tighten clients' faces, and employs it at her own studio.
Before each treatment, she sets a relaxing tone by lighting candles, turning on soothing music, and spritzing the room with a light aromatherapy spray infused with essential oils. Purple accents pop against her private studio's silvery walls, and her easygoing yet professional attitude makes the intimate atmosphere comfortable. But it's not just a relaxing experience—she says the main benefit is "actual, visual improvement in the skin."
"It's more than a froufrou facial, but it's not in a medical setting," she says. "I listen to the client and provide a comfortable setting for them, as well as a very effective facial." She selects custom products from brands such as Bio-Therapeutic to best care for her clients' skin types. At the end of appointments, she educates each client with personalized skincare recommendations.
In addition to her high-tech microcurrent and hydrodermabrasion treatments, she offers facials including a men's fitness facial and a classic European facial. Her services extend to facial and bikini waxing. She banishes strands from brows, chins, and lips with a lavender facial wax, and for bikini areas, she uses mild GiGi Honee wax, an all-purpose wax that doesn't burn, cause peeling, or jump ship to become a candlestick.

Therapists massage essential oils infused with spruce and pine extracts into skin. The oils boast anti-inflammatory properties that are a welcome relief for sore, tired muscles. Because the massage also uses deep pressure, it is ideal for athletes and anyone who isn't afraid of a heavy hand.
Deeply Moisturizing Honey-Avocado Butter Wrap
High-altitude honey, prized for its above-average enzyme count, and avocado butter work together to trap water in the skin. Aromatic cardamom and vanilla essential oils add to the sensory experience.
Signature High-Altitude Revitalizing Gemstone Ormus Ritual
The crown jewel of the spa menu, this three-hour sojourn begins with a soak in Ormus water sourced from nearby mountain streams. Later, a 90-minute massage finds therapists drizzling herbal oils energized with garnet, carnelian, rose quartz, and amethyst along the spine, and then placing gemstones on top.
Holistic Mile-High Pedicure
A hot-stone massage targets pressure points before warmed paraffin wax blankets feet, softening skin and warming up toes almost as well as burrowing them under a sleeping polar bear. The 80-minute treatment also includes a foot scrub.
