Josie Kern, Artistic Photography's experienced shutterbug, harnesses her years of snapping photos at fashion shows and special events to expertly capture client portraits in her hometown, chalet-style studio. Single models or groups of up to eight people can strike visually pleasing poses in a prompted 60-minute photo session, as Josie immortalizes group hugs, catwalk stances, and yarn-chasing prowess. After the photo shoot, clients sit down with Josie to choose their favorite frame and receive the selected image on an 8"x10" print, with additional prints available for $10 apiece. Josie's attention to detail, eye for powerful imagery, and ability to juggle five flaming cameras has gained her work both locally and abroad, including gracing the cover of Yoga Magazine.

Chelsea Alderman is an artistic jill-of-all-trades. In her spare time, she writes and directs comedy thrillers, relying on her talent for making "people pretty for a living." That sense of insouciant charm carries over into her wedding photography where macroshots of bouquets fit right in with candid photos of flower girls sitting on a church stoop during their state-mandated 15-minute break. Like her photos of nuptials, her portraits use almost impossibly vibrant colors and unexpected images, such as a young woman wrapped in Christmas lights, to dive beneath the surface and evoke a subject's personality.
In addition to showcasing the work of local, up-and-coming artist who specialize in a variety of media, the staff at Hook Gallery & Framing are aiming to create a new community of artists. They're doing so by leading weekly BYOB painting classes, which are led by experienced artists who instruct groups with step-by-step instruction. Ranging in subject matter from portraiture to a pile of chopped lemons gifted to you by Life, painting classes include canvases, paint, and brushes. Visitors can even return to get their piece framed, as the studio has more than 300 framing and matting options on-site, which are crafted into custom frames by industry experts.
