  • Alaska Trail Guides
The outdoor enthusiasts at Alaska Trail Guides give visitors an inside look at Chugach State Park and Anchorage with guided tours and custom bike trips, while equipping riders with bikes, helmets, snacks, and sloshing water bottles. During the three-hour Bike and Brew trek, leaders drive groups through downtown Anchorage, weaving a narrative tapestry about sights before outfitting them with athletic gear at Westchester Lagoon. In the next hour, patrons cycle along eight miles of coastline, where they might see flocking birds and moose, before capping off the excursion with suds at Midnight Sun Brewery. The Bike and Tram tour spans 5.5 hours, during which navigators steer vans through downtown Anchorage and a particularly scenic stretch of fowl-fringed highway. Riders then launch into a 10-mile journey along Turnagain Arm amid the salmon, anglers, and bears of Bird Creek. Riders then board a tram to the peak of the Alyeska ski resort to soak up views of seven hanging glaciers and the Chugach Mountains, which can usually be seen only by affixing a camera to a migrating Pegasus. Visitors can opt for private bike expeditions or special activities, such as a cruise that skirts the glaciers of Portage Lake or a round of whale watching at Beluga Point. Alaska Trail Guides also rents bikes and pull-along trailers.
