At CrossFit South Lewisville, passionate trainers lead students of all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels through high-intensity workouts that blend gymnastics, weightlifting, and cardio to mold the body into a lithe, athletic machine. Developed by Greg Glassman in 2002, CrossFit depends on a dedicated community of followers that motivate each other through an ever-changing barrage of daily exercises. The workouts focus on functional movement and variety, steering clear of the repetitive, pointless grind of a cross-country stationary bike ride. Instructors at CrossFit South Lewisville do more than inspire their pupils to lift massive tractor tires or increase their heart rates—they welcome them into a community of fellow athletes, shaping flab into muscle with personal training, nutrition planning, and sports-specific workouts.
After meeting at a training session for yoga teachers, Shayla and Heidi established Transform U Fitness, with Heidi as the trainer-based studio's first client. Transform U's communal credo forges a supportive workout space that informs its private, semiprivate, and group classes where gym-goers of every experience level pursue more streamlined physiques.
In an effort to help their members lose weight safely, certified trainers sit down with clients to work out realistic goals and practical ways of achieving them. Preworkout trips to the T.U.F. Boutique outfit exercisers with yoga accouterments from brands such as Zobha and Hard Tail.

When Lynette Carter walked into her first Zumba class, she weighed 230 pounds. When she walked into her most recent Zumba class, she weighed 120 pounds, and waved hello to her students.
Today, Lynette owns PGR Family Cardio Club, an all-ages fitness facility based around Zumba. She uses her own story of transformation to help motivate and inspire new exercisers. Lynette and her instructors know that each attendee starts at a different level of physical fitness, and so they tailor classes accordingly, even holding special sessions geared towards teaching kids or seniors. "You don't have to be a dancer, or in top ... shape to attend any of our classes," she says. "Just come ready to have fun and burn all the calories away."
