  • That 80's Run / 5K / 10K
Leg warmers. Synthesizers. Sky-high perms. The cultural trends you thought had been buried alongside the props from the moon-landing set are alive and well at That '80s Run 5K and 10K races. Runners don sunglasses, spandex, and neon headbands, and haul boomboxes blasting old-school rap and hair metal, ensuring that their sprint to the finish line is a totally tubular time. But this is more than a mere footrace—contestants can take home prizes simply for completing the course in the most outrageous costume. After the race, participants receive refreshments, finisher medals, and the warm-fuzzy feeling of knowing their ticket price benefited health initiatives and scholarships at St. Charles Community College. Winners of the 10K take home $100, and winners of the 5K take home $50.
