A guitar player for 32 years and a music retailer for more than two decades, Matt earned his musical chops alongside some of the best in the business. As a member of the band Adam Bomb in the late '80s, he shared the stage with notables including Dio, Stryper, Kings X, and Iron Maiden; today, the lineup of his current band, Machines of Grace, includes members of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. The showroom at his Weymouth music store reflects this lifelong dedication, with shelves lined with electric and acoustic guitars, name-brand amps, and all sorts of sheet music. The shop’s soundproofed practice room provides a sanctuary for private lessons from Matt’s handpicked staff of professionally trained guitarists, drummers, pianists, woodwinders, and singers, many of whom graduated from the harmonious halls of the Berklee College of Music.
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Our focus is entirely drums so you can ensure having a teacher who lives and breathes this instrument. Our mission is simple: We build drummers. And we invest ourselves heavily in your learning. That's why we customize each lesson to your interests and goals. So we can make you better and have fun!
Do you provide any materials? What should your students expect to bring?
Students should come prepared with a notebook and a pencil. That's it! We have sticks, drum pads and two drum sets in each room. We will also provide sheet music from books and digital PDFs as well as recommended videos and music for ear training and exposure.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
All our instructors have been drumming their entire lives. And we've experienced many different lessons and teachers. We know what works and what doesn't. Our goal is to arm you with the tools necessary to achieve all your drumming potential. And most importantly develop creativity on the drums.
What do you love most about your job?
That moment when one of our students is working through a challenging part. It may not come easy right away. But watching their eyes as all of a sudden, it makes sense. And
then they smile because they did it. That's why we teach. That's what drives us each day. And they go home happy, victorious.
