Two floating hardwood dance floors tremble beneath the rollicking steps of the cha-cha, foxtrot, and tango at The Verve Ballroom, where experienced instructors coach dancers of all ability levels in a variety of styles. Teachers offer undivided attention during private lessons and give couples and partner-less dancers alike the chance to try out their skills during group lessons. On Friday nights, they lead beginner lessons before opening up the floor for dance parties, where students can mingle as they put their newfound skills or mechanized dancing shoes to the test.
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Dance Elite specializes in dance instruction for ages 2 through high school. We create a low pressure, non-competitive environment focusing on technique, fitness, and most of all, FUN! We offer a structured environment that enables your child to excel, while embracing the discipline and art of dance
What's one tip for first-time students that will make them feel like veterans?
Please arrive early on the first day to get them acclimated to their new teacher and environment! Separation anxiety is one of the most common issues on the first day, you may overcome this by explaining to your child before they arrive that mommy will watch them through the window during the class
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
We love to dance and we love to pass on our passion to other young dancers! At Dance Elite we are a family and we believe the most important part of our job is to inspire and foster a positive environment for our young dancers to feel safe and included!
What do you love most about your job?
Seeing the passion for dance in every single dancer. The moment that a dancer is successful at a new move and the excitement in their eyes! Their excitement is what pushes us to teach!
From Divine Movement's twin studios in Kirkland and Seattle, co-owners Angi Cardwell and Jennifer Patenaude oversee a sultry suite of pole-dance and boudoir-dance classes set to the sounds of heart-pumping rock, indie, and hip-hop. Though not specifically a workout regimen, the floor-based and pole-vaulted routines are high-energy maneuvers that help to boost confidence and create a positive self-image. Six-week series cater to beginners and intermediate seductresses, and more advanced drop-in sessions cover holds, inverted handstands, and midair tea service. The dress code calls for comfortable yoga-style wear and bare feet or legwarmers.
