  • Creative Living Works
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition? Danielle Festa is the founder of CLW, a community where creative minds can expand their tool-sets to master the balance of art, business, and life. In addition to the personalized coaching session, receive a year pro membership on creativelivingworks.com and a ticket to a networking event in Somerville. What was the inspiration to start or run this business? As creative professionals, we all have a craft we are passionate about. In order to be successful in the real world, we need to be armed with many other skills that may not come as naturally. I started CLW to help others master the business side of being creative, inspire new challenges, and share tips. What do you love most about your job? As an artist/business woman, I wear many hats and embrace the variety that every day brings. I enjoy meeting new artists, designers, and freelancers. Teaming up with other talented professionals has led me to believe we can all benefit from learning and sharing our experiences.

  • Faith Escudero
Faith Escudero didn’t just wake up one day and decide to become a life coach. She spent years studying mental health, behavior analysis, and education, in the process acquiring licensing as a counselor, school psychologist, and special-education teacher. Today these experiences translate into Faith's leading-edge approach to life coaching, which involves building awareness of the scientific principles that individuals use during each moment to create their perspective—whether it's happiness or stress. Her anger- and stress-reduction classes, for instance, make it clear how to live with a calm, clear mind as coworkers take credit for your work or the Nobel Committee spells your name wrong. While a majority of Faith's seminars are held in her office in Haverhill, she also travels to her client’s location, as when she leads “workplace wellness classes.”

  • Plant Nite
Plant Nite pairs the leafy refinement of an old-fashioned garden party with the DIY spirit of your typical crafting night. Guided by one of the company's master gardeners, participants spend two hours with a trowel in one hand and a drink in the other hand-crafting their own tabletop gardens for display on counter tops, workstation, or anyplace in between. Plant Nite provides all necessary materials, including plants, colorful moss, and tiny dinosaurs, turning local bars and restaurants into high-class greenhouses along the way. Potential creations include terrariums, succulent gardens, seasonal arrangements, and more. Participants can even use their newly green thumbs to signal the bartender; wine and cocktails are available throughout the classes.

  • Olympia Fencing Center
Olympia Fencing Center founder and coach Daniel Hondor started his swordplay career with dreams of earning a spot among the Three Musketeers. Enthralled by the adventures of the trio, 7-year-old Daniel picked up his first rapier, beginning an association with fencing that would eventually take him around the world as a member of Romania’s national team. Eventually, after years of international dueling, he set down the sword and took up the mantle of coach, teaching the Romanian junior team techniques he’d learned throughout his career. The Olympics in Atlanta finally brought him to America, where he continues to share the art of fencing with students of all experience levels. He and his fellow instructors lead adult programs that help veteran swordsmen sharpen their skills and introduce novices to the sport’s intricacies. In homage to his childhood inspiration, he also hosts Musketeers classes that acquaint kiddies aged 6–10 with basic rules and moves, preparing them for future classes and eventual careers as knights of the realm.
